Installed Blitz DCIV Turbo Timer

Installed a Blitz FATT DCIV Turbo Timer today.

In case you did not read my previous HKS Turbo Timer disaster thread here's the link

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-2l-l61-performance-tech-45/hks-type-1-turbo-timer-question-154877/

After a huge headache with a defective HKS Type-1 Turbo Timer I was only interested in a simple 4 wire model. The speed and rpm display on the HKS were not accurate at all and I don't care much for those complicated TT's anymore.

Anyways I took it all apart AGAIN today and re-wired my new Blitz DCIV FATT Turbo Timer the exact same way. According to mrsilent13's instructions. (Big to him)

Sure enough it works fine , no problems, no C.E.L., no GM Passive Security Light. I acutually like this model better since it has a separate control unit and I don't have this huge box on top of my steering column. I decided to mount it under my cd player I think it looks best there.

There's a few extra features with this Blitz TT

- Auto Mode (Where it calculates driving time and decides how long to idle)
- Battery Voltage Display
- Interior Ambient Temperature Display (In Celsius)
- Stop Watch
- Lap Counter
- Bar Display (Ignition Pulse)

Here's some Videos

First Video I made after just have finished installing the Blitz TT. 7 hours of work later if you count the time wasted with the faulty HKS. That's why I got the Biggie Smalls on

Without Music. Start, Idle and 30 second countdown.

On my Blitz TT you have the option of by-passing the whole parking brake safety feature by simply grounding the wire.

Which model TT do you have?

mine is the apexi. i tried grounding it jsut now and it will idle then just cut off. i have no idea what the H is going on. i followed the step by step. could it make a difference being mine is a clutch? and not an auto?

and by clutch i mean a standard transmission. lol

also, it being an SS/SC change the ignition wires possibly?

My car is a manual 5 speed but mrsilent13 has an auto and he's running the apexi TT connected to the E-Brake so it should work.

If your 100% sure that all the connections are secured.

In the interior fuse panel locate the ignition fuse (There's only one that's a 2 amp fuse) check if that's not the problem.

Tell me what color wires come out of your ignition lock cylinder. I will then know if there's any difference between SS and LS

If that fuse were blown the TT will still power up but it won't work when you take the key out. Instead it will shut off immidiately since you don't have a constant 12 v. going to the TT.

Mine was blown probably due to the faulty HKS unit I had before.

On the Ignition cylinder harness you have a constant 12v. wire. On my LS it is the Red with white stripe wire. Check to make sure there's always 12v. there even with the engine off.

Yes I started my car with that fuse blown. My TT powered up but it did not count down when I took the key out.

If that's not the problem

Make sure you have a good chassis ground. I believe your Apexi and my Blitz both have 2 Gnd wires.

Did you solder the connections?

mine only has one ground. ill check it out today. i have it grounded right next to the e brake. where my radio is grounded. ill look for a different ground possibly.im not worried about the e brake switch for it. just as long as it works.

Many are asking me what thread did you read that explains how to install a TT

Link to the thread where mrsilent13 explains how to wire a TT

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...o+timer+wiring

Notice that he grounded his Apexi TT to the chassis right next to the Windsheild Washer Fluid Cap.

Yes there are several good grounds.
Really hope your not the owner of a defective TT like my HKS was. It's a frustrating experience especially when you know you connections are correct and you just don't understand why it doesn't work right.

I have both my grounds going to these 2 studs
Not my car in this pic BTW

damn, what really sux is they dont make TT harness' specific for the cobalt! all i did was connect 2 plugs into the ignition wiring and used a splice for the parking brake and voila.

and it's an HKS type 1 (new style), shitty manual wiring for the cobalts.
