Back from the dead. Millions of threads but cant find a clear answer:

What are good cams for the stock 2.2 Turbo setup and what gains were made? I can see there are a dozen or so cams available but cant find the real world info.

Thanx!

Thanks! I've done a decent amount of searching but I haven't had much luck with finding what I want. I need a cheap steel turbo manifold in hopes of mounting a Mazdaspeed 3 turbo. I'm wanting a cheap turbo manifold so I can just modify for this freebie turbo I got. Anyone have a lead on a cheap ecotec turbo manifold?

While I don't doubt you, I have a whole Mazdaspeed 3 motor with a thrown rod just sitting at the shop and I'm attempting to cobble together the absolute cheapest turbo set up to throw on my stripped out base model car. The challenge for me is more how cheaply can I make 200-225 whp and not so much the "quality" of the kit. I believe I will try to weld the T31 flange off the Mazda manifold to a stock 2.2 manifold and then just whip up a big old downpipe off what's left of the factory Mazdaspeed DP. I'll have to get creative with intercooler piping but that should be the easy part lol

Even blown up you can sell those engines for a pretty penny, imo its much more worth it to wait and have a big turbo setup. i had a k04 and i spent way to much to go so slow. Either way, good luck welding on the stock manifold, post some pictures if you end up doing it.

Can anyone confirm or deny if a cavalier manifold will fit a cobalt. I'd assume so since there are only a few differences in the L61 in those cars and ours. Cavalier turbo manifolds are dirt cheap.

I would think as long as it is an L61 Ecotec cavalier the manifold would fit. There may be some differences but I don't think that would be one of them. Hell far as I know you can interchange intake manifolds from any 2.0, 2.2, 2.4 with the only thing that has to be worked around is stud/bolt size.

I'm such an idiot I meant to specify that I'm looking for an exhaust manifold. I've seen a lot of exhaust manifolds that claim to fit cavaliers and cobalts so I'd assume that a turbo manifold made for a cavalier would fit a cobalt LS

I'm an idiot and should have known a turbo manifold is an exhaust manifold. As long as it is Ecotec cavalier I would think it should fit.

the distance from the firewall is much bigger in the cavi. I dont think most cavi manifolds keep the turbo close enough to the engine to fit.

I'm not 100% but I feel like ive read that multiple times

Good point I didn't even think of that. I was just considering it should mount to the head.
