Even if it didn't work, wouldn't it be the dealerships fault?

That would be cool.... pay to have them put it on, they would give you a rental... Beat the living **** out of the rental car for a few days. Then go get your car back when the mechanic calls and says that they couldn't get the car to run properly with the supercharger installed.

2.2 Liters > 2.0 Liters

Anyone ever thought of that equation?

(of course then he would've just got a 2.4, but you get the point)

umm the SS/SC is a performance tunned car the LS is a economy car! and trust me GM dealers have no way to tune the pcm for a supercharger.

Despite the pointless bickering being had here by our members, I would like to address the thread authors concerns, which is what the rest of you should be doing.

The L61 engines in the 2007 model year use the E37 Engine-only control module. Its a 32-bit processor and is used in other model GM cars besides the Cobalt. Not the J-bodies. They used a P11, which was a 16-bit powertrain controller. The E37 is supported by HP Tuners software, but not officially yet. Its support comes from the other GM cars that have the same ECM.

The supercharger kit for the J-bodies will NOT fit the Cobalt. The GMPP stage 2 kit for the LSJ will NOT fit that.

Unfortunately, what you are proposing will NOT work. There is no kit that will just bolt on. The mechanic you spoke with is mistaken.

However, you do have an ECM that is capable of being tuned and modified. So with a custom forced induction setup, you would be able to make it work. Just not with the GMPP supercharger kit.

Better brakes: More power to the wheels=more force to stop.

I don't get it. If your gonna boost your car, your gonna want to get this stuff anyways, so I don't understand your point.

Better axles: I've not read of one LS YET that has snapped an axle, but I may have missed a thread on that so don't quote me.
And all the problems listed here have to do with having 250ft/lb of torque hitting the wheels at once. No offense but your axle comment is kinda weak. I'll toss on your axles on my car and see how long they last.

So all in all your post has no merit.

::edit:: Bodykit: I'm sorry, but I LOVE the sleeper look. Bodykits just **** me off.

I agree with you there. I'd love to come up to someone and have them thinking I've got nothing, and then see the look on their face as I pass them.

To the original poster,

Like it's been said above, it probably won't work. I would recommend going ahead and getting either a custom turbo setup, or wait for a s/c kit to be released.

I was following the 2.2 Turbo thread for awhile. I haven't read it in quite awhile, so i don't know if they guy ever got it dyno'd, But I think it's work checking into. Or, if you do have HPT support on the 07's, go ahead and pick it up. It's worth the $650 or whatever it is. BUT MAKE SURE YOU'RE COMPATIBLE.

After that, if your able to play around with HPT or have a good tuner near you, it might be a lot cheaper to piece together a turbo kit. One of the S/C guys around here is piecing one together. He's been researching and asking a lot of questions for the better part of the last year and he has yet to even buy anything. He's picked out the turbo, but there is still a lot of research for him to do.

Adam made a great thread on here about piecing together a turbo kit. I'll see if I can find it.

And if you want the whine of a s/c, start researching now, and don't do anything until you know yourself what will work well and what won't.

thank you even though i already canceled the order n no i didnt pay for it b4 i had them order it. to the guys that asked y didnt i just get a SS/SC. thats because im only 19. insurance would kill me if i had gtten that so yes the LS was the way to go for me. i am however still going to go forced induction with it. just not right now. im building up the motor first that way i dnt have to worry about anything happening to the motor.

You don't even have to do that. Your stock L61 engine can safely handle 250 HP without modification. Most stage 2 kits will work fine with that. Save your money.

Found it

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/forced-induction-50/how-build-your-own-ecotec-turbo-kit-43463/

Look through some of the threads NJHK has started. There is ALOT of good info if you read what he says. Well, just avoid the threads about Buttseckz

For a good read as well, head here
http://www.year2032.com/ecotec.htm

It's all the breaking points and how they reached them.

I love the fact that they just sprayed Nitrous until something broke. Replaced that part, and kept going until something else broke.

IMO, I would go with either the procharger or a turbo.....
that is if the 07 2.2s can be tuned(I am not 100%, but pretty sure I read somewhere saying they will be tunable)
Please tell me, what intake manifold sir?

if we're talking about the same thing here, the intake comes off, and the supercharger goes onto the throttle body...

Nope, SC sits on an intake manifold........

See link for picture of gasket -- it wont fit the 2.2L throttlebody opening.

The s/c is a roots type blower that is mounted on the intake/water-air intercooler, the throttle body is mounted by the inlet of the s/c....
t-body>s/c>intake manifold>engine

IF you go this route, you'll want more then just the blower and manifold.

If he was to start anywhere doing the GM thing he would have to buy the GM Cavalier SC upgrade and go from there. It has all the pieces to do a Cav 2.2, just no tuning. Then maybe, just maybe the S/C flash would work...

it will work but it wont be perfect. someone had that done to there 2.2 at the dealership i work at. it takes sometime for everything to get done but it is possible. the only reason i was against it was because of the price and the techs said i would have a higher risk of blowing the engine. if its worth it to you then go for it. im not saying do it or dont because its your money and car but there could be a lot of problems for you in the future. thats all i have to say about it

You cant use the ss/sc flash on the 2.2, differant PCM and they will be 2 differant tunes, You will need to get custom tuning when its avaible, I think it might be, or almost..... or you will need a piggy back....
IIRC the 2.2 cavy/sunfire s/c kit doesnt work on the 2.2 cobalts, I believe it was talked about in another thread. I think it was because of fitment and other issues, it will bolt on but I dont think it will fit properlly.
