Need exhaust help.

Alright need someone that can tell me how this will work. So I found out its 1.75 in and out for the muffler on an 05 N/A 2.2L.

http://www.innerauto.com/store/?N=0&...84a5954e008773

and I am just going to get a glass pack muffler lol cheap ricer I know but hopefully it will sound good.

My question is though. How does the stock muffler come of? Will I have to weld/saw anything? Someone told me its just bolt on, is that true?

just straight glasspacks always sound like **** and if you make that where its the part of the muffler that comes out it looks stupid to. if your really looking to go cheap just go to autozone and buy a flowmaster muffler it will sound alot better and wont look so stupid.

Actually autozone has lookalike flowmasters. Not actual flowmasters.

What if I got a 1.75 in and out magnaflow muffler?

Build your owns are never as good....Oh and to answer your question: Yes, in order to install any form of cat back on this car you will need to cut off the exsisting muffler. If your doing your own, that also means welding on the new one.

He's right.

You could try to make it bolt up, but it would probably:
1. Leak
2. Not fit right
3. Sound crappy
4. Fall off from not being welded

All you would be paying for is drone on freeway trips. If your not willing to spend the $$$ for a real catback, I would not even bother.

You can clamp it back on you do not need to weld anything :/

Explain how bolting is any different from welding beside the obvious strength ??? Look at most hangers on exhaust they are welded to the frames then bolted around the pipe and nothing goes wrong with them. They usually fit fairly decent, there would be no crazy noise different unless u left a retarded size hole. I just used clamps, tack welded the magnaflow exhaust on my girlfriends truck and the only problem has been from where it was welded..not where it was clamped...Rubber on hangers is a must no straight metal on metal :/ Especially if you have alot of vibrations.

Just get a real cat back. Go to speed-element.com and order the tsudo. You will love the sound of it and you will gain a few hp also!!! For under 250 bucks you have a good sounding exhaust.
