yes and no. it's BARE aluminum and because of that it will have oxides on it. Be SURE to either rough the manifold up with steel wool or something else of that nature or to "pickle" the metal with a weak acid like vinegar followed by a rinse and finally clean it up to prep it with mineral spirits or something similar. Either way best to prime it before paint anyways.

Did you realize yu were in the 2.2 section when you said that. The 2.2 manifold is plastic.

The LSJ and LNF 2.0L engines have metal manifolds. 2.4 and 2.2 have plastic.

Yes, the plastic can be painted, just make sure to give it a quick scuff with some 400-600 grit so the paint has something to hold onto.

That is WAY too low of a grit. You'll end up shearing 1/16" of plastic off if you use that.

Try 1,200 grit. Trust me. You don't need a grit anywhere near that low on a plastic intake manifold.

if you're using a dremel 400-600 is too much, but just to scuff by hand, you'll have a hell of a time going through the plastic

Hey, I mean use what you want, but don't post here crying when the finish is chewed to ****.

Remember, if you start at 1,200 grit, you can work your way to a rougher grit.

If you start with a rough grit, and decide it's too heavy, the damage is already done.

Come on now, I thought this was simple logic.

raw plastic use 800 grit and higher nothing lower. 1000 would be an idle median. and a gray scotch brite pad with some soapy water to finish the job. clean it up. your going to need an adhesion promotor before spraying becasue its bare
