Pistons???!

I wanna buy new pistons for my L61 bcuz im putting a LNF turbo onto my 2.2L. Does anyone have ideas or suggestions about what manufacturer to buy from and what compression ratio to go with? My goal is to boost more than 12lbs and I believe I need new internals to do so. According to ZZPerformance I can boost up to 12lbs on tock internals but need to reinforce the motor if wanna boost more. Any help would be great. Thanks

Jimmy

We carry Wiseco for the 2.2L, it has been the longest manufactured aftermarket piston for the ecotec. Our customers have been using them for over 10 years.

so aaron what's the compression on the cometic 87mm .50 and a set of straight stock wisecos?

what i mean is there a benefit to the thicker gasket?

Thicker gasket would drop compression slightly.

if youre gonna do pistons, might as well do rods as well. rods will most likely go first before the pistons will. im currently runnin a JE piston setup with stock 10:1 compression and Eagle H-Beam rods, with ARP head studs, 3 layer head gasket and i was throwing 18 psi from a gt3076r with no problem...of course i have meth tho to keep it cool. but thats just my 2 cents of my block setup

The rods go because of the pistons

Stock is about .040", .010" wont lower your compression much, i doubt it will even lower .1

A good build would be pistons, rods, cometic gasket, and ARP studs

You can run the K04 on the stock bottom end just fine the L61 shouldn't put down numbers anywhere near what the LNF guys do with it, my guess would be around 220. At that power a well maintained engine will be fine for awhile. They say 250 is the limit of the rods but I've yet to see a rod go pistons usually go first and they can go at any power level(I cracked a ringland N/A).

Once the rods and pistons are upgraded you good till about 400hp and then you have to worry about cyclinder walls themselves.
