PO171 Code

I have a 07 cobalt ls. Got the code after Injen CAI. Does a tune for sure make this lean code go away? And does CAI effect o2 monitors? I can't seem to get them set after installing.

Clearing the code doesn't fix the problem.

Something isn't right, make sure you have the sensor in the right way, make sure the bolts for the sensor are tight and the seal is still there. Make sure all your clamps are tight. This code is saying that there is air gettinto the system somewhere after the maf sensor. If this came on after the install them it's directly related to the install. I've had an injen intake for 5 years, never had a problem.

Fuel trims are off. Very common issue with CAI install.

I noticed TB bolts were not that tight so I tightened them and have not got the code since. Does this make any since?

It does, just think if air is getting thru the throttle body, then that is access air that is not being accounted for. Therefor that is throwing off your trims. These cars are very tempermental so the slightest problem could throw a code

I use to get the code at WOT everytime. If I drove it more normal would get the code within 150 miles. Tightened TB bolts. Have drove almost 500 miles and havnt got the code yet so I'm hoping that was the problem!

You were getting the code because unmetered air was getting into the engine. The MAF is what senses how much air is going through the intake and since air was leaking after the MAF, the ECM didn't account for it or give it enough fuel to deal with the extra air so it was running lean. Basically, if the leak is fixed, the problem is fixed.
