Rumours of Lifters snapping...

I have heard lots of rumours going around that the 2.2L engine is too high of compression to put a supercharger or a turbo onto it. Is this true? Have people been upgrading the lifters just to put superchargers on? This is what i have heard from the dealerships and the shops i been in. I'm currently Apprenticing in a shop and we had like a 2 hours discussion on it and the only way we figured to find out if it was a rumor or not was to do it. But i don't wanna blow my lifters if it don't work. Anyone got any feedback?

what do lifters have to do with anything in relation to compression?

the answer is no, the compression is not too high. both have been done, a quick search around the forums will give you the answer to that.

Lifters would not be the first thing Id be worried of breaking if I went forced induction. Ive had the plasure of taking apart 3 2.2's so far and they are very stout engines. Just do it and dont boost to high and youll be fine.
