Slowbalt2000's SmallturboL61coupe Build

So I've been meaning to start this thread for a while, but I guess its better late than never, so here goes nothing.

A month before my 16th birthday, my parents brought this sick whip home for me.

A 2007 5 speed cobalt coupe in ultra silver metallic.
Shweet

So I wasnt allowed to mod the car at first because my parents were worried I would end up like my brother(he liked to total his cars). So what did i do you ask? went out and bought this

[img][/img]

My plans were to supercharge the car so i got this pacesetter lsj with the 1.75" primaries.
Parents werent too happy with that as you could imagine
So i started to save up to buy a 240sx with my own money so they couldnt say **** about what i did....

That is until I found a killer deal on some almost new BC racing coilovers, so what did i do?
I bought those ******* with all the money i had saved up lolololol

So now im feeling all JDM and "hella low"

Yeah i thought i was low...

The car did handle worlds better though and i was very fond of this. This is when i began tearing up backroads, the only places where my car actually felt fast.

Did a few little 16 year old visual mods

Red valve covers get all the bitches right? Right.

I was very sad the day the jack no longer fit under my car.

look ma! no locking rings!

I have so many of these random pictures, its stupid.

I think a day or two after i got the coils, i ditched the stock wheels for some discount tire specials.

[img][/img]

That picture was also taken after i bought some stance rear springs that were bouncy as hell so they only stayed on for about a week. I bought custom BC rear coils.

Length difference.

After the new BCs

And then the real changes started. I found a guy in Ohio who was parting out an 05 cobalt ss/sc.
So i took a trip. Picked up the full suspension, brakes, and body kit. Plus some other little odds and ends.

Yes, i got all of this **** to fit inside of my cobalt and drove all the way back to Nashville from northern Ohio with it surrounding me. The car i got the parts off of did have a bit of rust and my car being a TN car, i wasnt down for that. So my dad was nice enough to get me an angle grinder with a wire wheel. I went to town on that **** for a whole week.

I have too many pictures of this not to share a few.

Painted it up with some Rustoleum rust cover up primer

It ended up painted black.

Painted the calipers too.

Then these parts sat for a while and didnt get installed for at least 2 years. I did have the bumpers painted and installed but the suspension/brakes/five lug swap didnt happen until a bit later.

Always wear protection! is what my dad told me..

had my buddies dad plasma cut this to the general shape of the subframe

yeah I was cool, making fun of poor stock sedans.

Installed the bumpers and got some 6k HIDS. Car looked SO much better besides the hellasunk wheels and the fact that they were 15s.

Ended up getting some aftermarket housings and doing a quad beam setup.

Then Christmas came around...

Shweeeeet.
Got some used s.drives off an old css member

If you couldnt tell, these wheel arent 5x110.
why? because **** that gay ass lug pattern. I hit up mongorat from here on the forum and ordered a 5x114.3 hub swap kit.

Swapped the front and drove around like this for probably 8 months, was just too lazy to finish putting together all the parts for the rear end swap.

So fitment...Much low.

Took my car to college.

So at this point youre probably wondering. Why did this guy buy a header for a turbo build and why the **** hasnt he talked about installing it yet?!?! Thats because i never did.

My plans changed with the car, i wanted to make lotsa powa. More than a supercharger would give, so i figured i might as well just be turbo from the get go.

The head looks decent. My machining teacher said i wouldnt really even need to smooth the combustion chambers out though i likely will.

The valves and seats are definitely usable, probably just gonna do a standard valve job.
