Have you had it on a dyno yet? How much power you figure you're producing?

Didn't you sell a BNR2871? Why didn't you run that?

How high are you hoping to eventually go on that turbo?

The problem with the k04 on the LE5 is trying to fill the extra .4 of a L on a 2L it already dies off on the topend I would recommend a K04r it should hold between 20 to 22psi on a LE5

The turbo should be able to support a little over 300 on my setup.

Kevin- he wants to use a 2871

Haha, assuming everything goes as planned, I WILL be using a 2871, not WANT TO.

But in this case I am asking about you specifically because through this whole adventure I have learned something about boost, the mathematical equations in determining boost, and how to read boost maps. This is all good and all but then there comes real-world experience.

You're using the same engine as I am so your equations should be about the same as mine. I plotted my engine on many, many compressor maps at multiple power levels. On the K04 my engine literally wasn't even on the map. It was so far outside the choke line that I wouldn't even have considered using it. If you read the numerous "LNF on LE5" threads on the internet there are almost none that actually got completed. Most of them end in some people who claim to know about turbos telling the people that want to build turbos that the K04 will never work on the LE5, which I agree, on paper it is a terrible candidate. But then there is you.

I will also say that, on paper, the K04 doesn't really even appear to be a great candidate for the stock LNF. It is barely within the choke line. I guess that just confirms what people say about it though. It spools fast as hell and runs out after 5300rpm.

Th k04r on a LNF will hold 30psi to 6500rpm with an actuatorfor $600 new

Not that it matters but you seem to be contradicting yourself.

With the k04r being a big wheel its weakness is the exhauat turbine being small but you guys havingbthe bigger engine i think would love it. I personally would only spend my money on the k04r or the 7163. Having had both I'd say they are both tons of fun and the R will be all you guys need for a stock bottom end le5

Cool I can't wait. But running 12psi from a 7163 is cheating and not actually running it in my books

I dont think i want to go that route anymore. Not on a manually controlled car. We will see though, still far away.

Where can I find more info on this K04R? is it just a compressor wheel upgrade to a stock K04?

Ya it's basically a bigwheel upgrade and an upgraded actuator that i came up with to hold up to 30psi on a 2L
