Stage 1 cams
Ok, today i got my gmpp cat-back system from CED (thanks Tom ), installed it and it dawned on me, i finally have my own car that i can mod when ever, don't have to ask parents or anything (see i am only 17) and can just have fun with. Well, I already have an injen intake, the gmpp touring cat-back and i am looking at a header and down pipe right now, but i was thinking....what next? I have read alittle bit about the stage 1 cams (haven't seen much about them though) and i saw where someone said people put back in their stock cams because of their cars running too lean, is this true? Also, while i was in the "after market L61 Cobalt parts" sticky thread i was looking at cams and noticed it said
"L61, LSJ, and LE5 cams are not interchangable. L61 and LSJ cams can be used in an LSJ head on an L61 block, but that's a pretty advanced modification.
2007 L61's now use a cam position sensor. These cams will not work on that engine.
LSJ cams have a position sensor as well. I don't know if they may now work in a 2007 L61 head.
1. GMPP - Part #88958648 from the new 2006 Catalog
2. Comp Cams
3. Level Zero"
Does this mean the after market comp cams wont work on my 07 LS or is it refering to some other cam? Sorry for all the questions, i tryed searching but didn't come up with much, just hopeing some people can shed some light on these things for me, thanks

I'm pretty sure Comp cams were first intended to be used with Ecotec Cavaliers so if the 07 cams are different then they will not work.
Unless the sensor can be swapped over as well...
I would ask Halfcent as I'm sure he is the person who wrote that.

hmm, ok. I was thinking of sending him a pm on that but i figured if i can get on answer in a post that if anyone else is ever looking for that answer all they have to do is search. Would a cam sensor be something tuneing could adjust or could remove (remove the fact the computer needs it) if it ever comes out?

hmm, i sent halfcent a pm yesterday and haven't heard back (i know...people get busy, its cool) but in the mean time does anyone happen to know of an article or anything that could help me out? I just want to know if the comp cams or any other for the cobalts do or don't work with the 07.

Because from your post it sounds like i could run a more aggressive grind / higher stage cam and be ok for the tuning for it on a 2.2 using the aem f/ic?

for reference, the LZM triflow cams make peak power ~6100...being that you redline at 6500 you are going to drop into the next gear arond 4000 which isn't necessarily optimal.
