Trifecta Tune
Trifecta Tune
Can somebody please explain to me on how it works, how you would install it, and what can be the gains form it, i searchd but only found out people who ordered it and nobody seems to post on how to use it -no flaming-
it's essentially a plug-n-play kinda operation. a lil bit of time waiting for the computer to be updated.
the gains are all dependent on what mods you already have. but an ls stock WILL even be a bit peppier. in my case stock i gained 4hp, but gains were there through the rpm range.
Now lets say you have intake header exhaust, you'll get more of a gain since you would already have those in place complimenting the tune. even if you are running stock w/ tune and get the upgrades later, you'll see more gains than if you didn't have the tune. get the point??
and then of course if you end up on a dyno and ya get the sheet and send it to vince, i'm sure if anything can be fine tuned he'd be happy to make some adjustments. just gotta pay for the tuning device to be sent out, i think the retune was a figure around 70 bucks if i remember correctly.
don't hesitate getting the tune. it's worth it imo.
now if anyone has any performance mods they wanna give me for free or wayyy cheap, lemme know. :-P

You tell Trifecta what mods you have done. Give them any things you want done to the tune like turn fans on at 200 F instead of like 220
Then they send your tune via mail. They use a PDA to hold the tune. You connect the PDA to your OBD2 port and follow on screen instructions.
It takes a few minutes. car resets itself and away you go. Don't worry about when the tuner makes the car reset, it scared me the first time.

i had my done by vince from trifecta, he will send u a email listing all ur info. then he will ask what mods u have done. the relly only thing that he could do for me was through my 2.4 intake manifold swap. but once he got all ur bolt ons or what ever he will make a tune. then he will send a PDA thing. u hook all the wires up to the PDA then plug it in to ur dignostic cable. u read the instructions on how to work this. let it download or upload to ur car. then it takes around a 100 miles to break in for ur car to maneg the fuel and air after a bit. u will send him a log of ur tune on how its running. vince will explain on how to do a log. but its mostly showing him how much fuel and air is going to ur car. but the only reson i wouldnt recommend it is if u have lil blot ons, like intake or cat back exsaughst u wont see that much gain. but on mine i have a 2.4 intake manie, k&N intake, cat back 2.5 exsaughst. and i rely didnt see a big gain. the only thing i rely seen a diffrence was in the fuel, i mostly got about 32 mpg on interstate, now i get around 42. thats if im gentle on the gas but thats my story.
There is a handheld tuner that contains the tune. You plug it into your OBDII port below the steering wheel on the left side. You flash the computer, and then unplug the tuner. Its that simple.
They said that on a stock car you can probably expect 4-5 whp. that should go up with increased modifications. Fuel mileage should also be better.

lol.. well it sounds about right to me. a NA LSJ makes 130hp crank...and a stgII makes 240hp crank, so i figure if i make 150hp crank when NA, and im using a 3" pulley, im making like 250hp
its funtime now

So it's safe to assume that there will be a decent increase in mpg at the very least (on a stock car). I'm modifying mine for fuel economy (obviously I don't mind the extra hp/tq that goes with it, but I'm going to try to stay off of it to get the economy).
I want a upgrade to the LSJ DP and cat-back. I have a K&N Drop-In that I just put in yesterday and will be removing the intake silencer today. I'd like to get the tune after I get the exhaust done....perhaps I'll do an aftermarket header as well to allow even more flow.
I don't want to do the 2.4L mani because I don't know of any gain in mpg, just power in the higher RPM range...if I'm not going to be on the gas it's not worth it, plus I'm looking into doing what HunterKiller is working on. I won't attempt that until I pay the car off, so that's another 3-3 1/2 years down the road.
Would Trifecta be able to tune the car for a S/C then? Since it appears everything else can be taken care of with it.
The only thing I really want from my car besides better economy is better handling...power is a perk, but not necessary for me.
