and then what run no more then 5 psi? we have 10.0:1 compression! unless you have already switched out your internals it is a bigger job then you think. if you did do this then sorry...

To anyone who is being that impatient, sorry but you can't expect much of an aftermarket when you bought the cheapest model car of 3. Car companies aren't going to expect much from people who buy the cheapest cars on the market...more than likely, these people are going to be cheap as well and not go far with it. Why do you think people who spend over $20k have more support? EVOs, STis, WRXs, STis, Mustang GTs, Camaro Z28s & SS...the people who are spending top money on these cars can more than likely afford to and are more than likely going to modify their cars.

Also, even the SS/SC, Cobalts in general are not popular. I lived in NJ in a very populated area (Newark, Linden, Elizabeth area) and I BARELY saw an SS/SC and I would purposely look for them. Since I've been in TN, I've seen 2 of them, 1 was at a dealership and 1 was on a highway. They just aren't as popular as you guys think. Because they aren't that popular, companies aren't going to jump on them. Why do you think HP Tuners is the only real company to cater to their tuning? Look at EVOs, you can't look in a magazine without seeing one. Companies jump all over them to give them parts cause they know the people who have those cars are tuners for the most part and are power hungry. Thats green in companies eyes.

Worse of all, you guys own a 4 cylinder Domestic vehicle. Sorry to say but there are old beat up Honda Civics w/ 1.6L SOHC that have more support than you guys.

To anyone who wants to "blame" GM for this, your blame is misplaced. Blame yourself. Blame yourself for not doing your research before you bought the car. Guys like Halfcent knew this and isn't complaining about not have HP Tuners available. He built his motor and sitting back in his rocking chair till the product is available. He did his research before he bought his car. If you bought the 2.2 cause you liked the 2.2, good for you but don't be mad when there is no aftermarket support. Look at the J-body guys. They JUST got HP Tuners, a real tuning programmer when the SS/SC guys got it. They found ways around it in some cases (yeah and they bitched of course) but years on top of years had no type of support.

Overall, I'm not picking on you guys but just giving you a reality check. Stop expecting so much from the aftermarket in a whole. If you bought this car expecting to have every company to make a part for your motor/car, you bought the wrong vehicle. Come to the realization you bought a good economy vehicle...thats it. Blaming GM is pointless cause GM did what they wanted to for a purpose. It was made to go from point A to point B with good gas mileage. Also, some of you guys really need to think twice about dumping a ton of money into a car with a warranty and how it would effect your resale value when you're done...but thats another story.

Sorry for the rambling but I just wanted to address everyone in this one post.

Great post Adam!
Please forgive GM for not thinking about the "tuner crowd" when they design their electronics systems LOL

There ARE aftermarket solutions to the 2.2 tuning dilemma (of course the Megasquirt comes to mind)
BUT
most of them are not "turn key" and thus require a significant amount of technical expertise during the installation to allow them to integrate and play nice with the rest of the members on the GMLAN network. For a true race car this does not represent an issue as those systems are generally "stripped" from the car anyways.

For those that ARE more technically oriented and don't require formal "instructions" on how to wire-up a box to power, ground and various engine control circuits- the Megasquirt CAN act as a tunable "piggy back" ECU for controlling the injection and ignition timing while keeping the ECM happy THINKING IT IS!
All you need to do to LEARN how to do this is hit the MS web-site and forums and read read read!
