Very bad traction..

Okay I was just cruising home from work and had to stop at a light. The weather is really bad and rain is pouring like crazy. I'm wondering if anybody else has this problem..i was getting no traction from 1st and 2nd gear...perhaps maybe i'm shifting at every 2500 rpms but i'm not driving spirited. Has anyone else gone through this in the rain?

I've felt the car hydroplane on the highway during a heavy rain. I was only doing about 80 km/h!!!!!! The stock SS tires suck in the rain.

If you're on stock tires, that's more than likely why.

Yeah I know what you mean the stock Continental tires really suck. I was trying to pull out in the rain the other day (just giving it a very little bit of gas) and they just started spining and the whole front end started hopping.

i have the 2.4L and i don't really have a problem with spinning out but i do have a problem with skidding....the slightest wet road with a groove or pavement change will cause my tires to send me skidding through an intersection! i thought pirellis were good??? once they are gone i plan on getting Goodyear Eagle F1's love those tires!

This is true, as i wait for my factory 16inchers to come in that i bought, im on the stock contentials and jebus christ. I can be doing about 35 in 2nd gear and floor it and they break loose, not to mention i've broke the tires loose all the way into the top of 4th gear on wet pavement, of course i went wot through all the gears, but a stock 4 banger breakin loose in every gear with 145hp doesnt make sense, gotta be teh shitty tires.

Its definatly the tires. I can barley put my foot on the gas sometimes when its raining hard and they spin like crazy. And I have an auto so its not like i can rev it up beofre i take off. The stock contenantials suck. I was at the track and i spun through all of first gear haha. Oh well.....that will all be changing soon

The continentals suck *****!! I was trying to avoid rear ending some one and spun out the the highway going 50 and the roads were barely damp, thank god I managed to keep it from hitting the median and the car came out unscathed. If the roads are even a little damp the tires aren't safe above 35 mph, You can feel them scrubbing going around turns and going down the highway when it rains it hydroplanes constantly.
