hey, that is my old lid.

actually, that wasnot the cleanest cut lid out there, but it looks like jranger did a nice job cleaning it up.

I made one only to test out the theory, and if you look in the how to section. there is a video of it.

it is also viewable on www.joeworkstoohard.com

yeah, but it looks like you cleaned it up a LOT.

I just sort of rip cut it. as I recall, I sold it for the price of the filter, so I didn't feel bad about the lid needing clean up work.

honestly, the ideal size would be a 3 1/4 inch filter, but I have never seen such a thing.

small coping saw maybe. plastic is actually a pain to cut, if you don't have a dremel or something like it... borrow or buy one. it is like $20 for a basic one at wal mart.

or, you could just like... have some dork do it for you by offering to let him nail your sister or something.

If you can, try to salvage the lower clamping portion of the airbox, it makes mounting a lot easier. Although you may have slight clearance issues with the filter. Mine hits the hood blanket but not a big deal.

isn't that actually worse for the cobalt?
With the stock airbox and taking out the resonator...you'll basically be sucking in air through that hole, NOT through the engine..looks like with that one you're sucking hot air form the engine...am i wrong?

actually you can tell a lil difference....dunno if this counts for anything but before this mod i raced my uncle in his solstice and he beat me by a car length. Afterwards (today actually) I raced him again and my front bumper was at his windshield the whole race....from 0 mph to 95 mph

Not to mention its loud as hell now at WOT

Oh yea and btw my gas mileage went up after the airbox mod....going 65 w/ cruise I'm getting 42-43 mpg....now bad for $26 huh?
