nothing personal jn2 but i'd like to see 3 or 4 years on the sc then we'll talk about durability, a few months is easy.

I don't think any sc cobalt falls under that category...as th bal hasn't been out 6yrs, and tunin for earlier models wasn't available until recently. Don't think I'm a grandma driver. I drive my car at 10psi all the time under part throttle while accelarating. I put my engine thru hell. Even raced @18psi unintercooled for a month...sill have a good strong engine...time/mileage you will last varies on how u treat ur car and how u maintain it. My car sees fresh mobil1 every 5k miles. New fuel filter every 25k...and seafoam every oil change....

If u want reliability stay stock...if u want more power modify it, but know any modification will add more strain on the engine and may shorten it's life expectency, but it at varies...in my case my car is doing great, 7 months on stock clutch and still driveable and raceable...yes my clutch slips, but only if I go wot below 4k, a new cluch will fix that.

agreed on all accounts. 14 months on my car with multiple WOT runs every day and never had an issue

I'll be autocrossing my LE5 supercharged. That will mean 5-6 runs of 50-65 seconds every other weekend. 75% of that time will be spent at WOT and close to full boost.

I'll be sure to let you guys know how things hold up (and come looking for advice when **** breaks).

Is this the kit that you all are talking about? used stuff but looks like a decent price. This is what i was looking at too. i stare at my g5 and want it to go a little bit faster. a few bolt ons probably wont make me that happy. i only have CAI, 2.5 DP, 2.5 exhaust and trifecta tune. i can get the 2.4 intake mani but i want a little bit more.

This product says it has bolts and vacuum lines, manifold and IC. looks like it has the spark plug harness too that there is no modifaction needed for them.
any thoughts on this kit? taxes coming around and also just got back from deployment so i got a couple bucks.
i would need someone to install it cause i dont wanna do it myself lol. dont trust myself with something like this.

Any idea if the kit will support auto transmissions? I doubt I'd be interested in it even if it did, but just curious.

ZZP makes their kits as easy as can be and im sure it even includes detailed instructions. Im sure if you had the tools it wouldn't be to difficult.

No, that is just a used/prototyped kit. Its not zzp's actual kit so they just make things everything works and leaves the instal up to you. With there own kit (releasing 1/1/10) will be more that 1100 thats for sure but all the parts will be refurbished and clean and looking new. They will also probally have some sort of instructions and customer support will be included with their 2.2/2.4 SC kit.

oops forgot to include the link in my post T.T but yes, that used sc kit is what i was talking about. guess everyone will be checking zzp for that kit. just hope its not a woping 2.5k or above.

from looking at the How tos, putting that used supercharger kit together doesnt look that hard. might need a few small things like the A/F ratio gauge and boost gauge but looks good.

tempting

all im saying is that used parts people spent about 2k, and that included some oem parts new from the dealer, ive done the swap and it was about 2,300 worth of used parts.

i just dont see how they can sell "new" kits for 2500, i mean brand new intake manifolds/ superchargers, even if they sell used parts, how do they have enough of them to go around?

im just talking realisticly

"-This kit will be coming with a custom intake. Stock and aftermarket intakes will not fit."

i wonder why this is?

People have been saying that zzp has been buying used parts for quite some time now so I'm sure they have quite a bit stocked up.

Um, come one.....you know. The 2.2/2.4 have the airbox and intake on the right, supercharged cars its on the left, obviously a stock/aftermarket NA intake wont fit.

hes right. and i havent looked but i don't believe that we have the hole in the driver side inner fender that would make it possible to even use the stock ss/sc intake. maybe we do. i just don't remember seeing it.

also has to do with how they position the blower, they are doing it so you dont have to change your belt set up, i wonder how they are going to do that

i spent about $1500 all said and done..
$1,100 for essential parts, $250 for a tune, and $150 on random bolts/hoses, etc

Yeah an exhaust is needed for sure. Plus gauges would be helpful.
