2.4 intake and throttle body.
your car wouldnt run with the 2.4 tb if you didnt get a tune for it. with just the 2.4 IM you would be fine without a tune though
n the 2.4 IM is larger, for that reason you lose slight low-end torque but you have gains on top-end.. the loss is probably barely noticeable

It's been proven on dyno runs that you lose low end torque but you gain in the higher RPM's

It's not that much of a loss. It's worth it. I have it on my car, but because I'm an 04 ion I have a different TB pattern so I could never get my throttle body to make a seal to the intake mani even with the adapter plate. I'm going to be putting my 2.2 mani back on soon so if you're interested lemme know.
A tune will maximize the 2.4 mani and of course the TB as well. Do you plan on just bolt-ons for this car or forced induction? Keep in mind some parts will be replaced if you install a forced induction system later.
I don't remember on the later LAPs if the 2.4L mani is actually any different than the late LAP mani. Might wanna look around the LAP section. What model does your friend have?
BTW, I see your in Tonawanda, you should come out to the WNY meets this year.
