I have lurked many forums and I can not find answers to the questions I have. I've read that others have swapped LE5 in their LAP cars but what years are compatible? To my understanding it is a direct swap with only need of a reflash since its the same ecu, but will the 06&07 be compatible or just the 08+. Will the zzp 2.4 gen 3 shortblock work? Le9?
BTW I have a 2010 and it runs fine but someday when it decides to die on me I want to swap a 2.4 and most likely go f/i

Yes it can be done. I had a friend do it two years ago on his 2009 Pontiac G5 with the LAP engine. He got a 2006 Pontiac G5 GT donor car and dropped the sub frames and swapped the 2.4 engine into his car. Like Chevygirl said its not that bad of a swap. Do some searching around any of your local junkyards for cobalt 2.4's or Pontiac g5 gt's i'm sure you'll find plenty of engines as more and more of these vehicles are getting junked now and sent to be scrapped.
