Replaced the tensioner and everything is still the same. The same slack same noise and same bogging. Could VVT or timing be an issue?

the tensioner and chain look fine when you moved it remember the tensioner works with oil pressure to give it tension on the chain so with out oil pressure it should move freely but have a set preload, the actuator probably broke from poundage on the engine

that part thats broken in your pic is the exhaust actuator which is attached to your exhaust cam gear and that controls vvt the intake has the same thing aswell

lol sorry i just got back to this. but you're saying that plastic piece that was snapped in half is what actuates the VVT?

i know that big piece on the actual gear is the actuator but the thin piece that broke off just looks like a cover. i would be throwing a code if my actuator wasnt working

UPDATE!

I think it could be my lash adjusters or oil pump not providing enough oil to them, I have never thrown a low oil pressure light so im leaning more towards adjusters. any suggestions?
