Has anyone noticed any gains from a resonator delete besides the louder tone in exhaust and attraction by cops. I'm deciding on if i should go back to resonator delete because the glasspack resonator that i had put on there after my little ordeal with the cops feels different.

 

This is on a LAP motor right? I only ask cause I really wanted to do a resonator delete on my 09 too. Is it incredibly loud compared to stock? Sorry to threadjack man. lol

 

if gains=power increase?
Resonaters DO NOT take away power or add backpressure because they are a straight thru type resonater. what is killing your power on the cobalt is the 1.8 inch exhaust, 2 90 degree bends and i believe a 45.
every 90 degree bend on an exhaust system is 100% increase in backpressure, even worse with a crush bent pipe.
basically the pipe is too small and the crush bent exhaust system is the kicker.
if you want an increase in power, you need bigger exhaust pipe
if gains=better sound?
the muffler is your main sound change. megan and borla to magnaflow and ark all sound different.

 

I'm lookin more for sound than anything. I mean c'mon I drive a stock 2.2 LAP. lol Just lookin for a sound/ tone difference on the cheap.

 

when i bought my car my car the retard that had it before me cut the resonator out and jb welded a piece of pipe (the wrong diameter...) back in there, and the car sounded like shittttttttttttttttttttttttt at WOT. I would have to say there is no noticeable gain from getting rid of it but it deff is louder.

 

I just want a lil deeper tone, lol

 

forget about the resonator, leave it there,, just take away the muffler and put a straig pipe,, and it would sound like heaven Ive been like that for 9 months and I love it,,, real deep, and I just love the rumble when I let off the pedal

 

Hey Belto any videos of this? I'm too scared to just take off the muffler, dont want too much droning when I drive long distances. lol a lot of guys say that no muffler on a 2.2 sounds TERRIBLE.

i only have a KN drop in and the muffler delete,,, my friends car is bone stock, plus not the best shifter i could say.. we still are both pretty slow

 

That video is kinda hard to decipher your car from road noise. lol How does it sound at idle?

 

nice deep rumble.. not ricey at all, all my ss/sc friends were very impressed by it,, they though I had bought a full exahust... im sorry I cant get that vid... but,, it wont cost u much to test it,, just go to a muffler shop,, have them cut the muffler,, turn on the car,,, if you like it keep it, if not put it back,, top spend would be around 40 bucks..

 

dont do a muffler delete for the love of god!! it sounds good at idle and that is it!!!
i had it for a week, it seriously pissed me off it was so annoying


if your looking for a better tone than stock id get any offbrand muffler you can find at hardware stores. i had a cherry bomb turbo series muffler on mine and i liked it (thrush is another brand that would probably sound similar), but now i got tsudo and to be honest i wish i wouldnt have wasted my money on the muffler.. tsudo is the ****

 

I did the resonator delete to my 2.2 LAP and it gave my car a pretty deep tone to the point of where a cop pulled me over and told me to get it changed and if i didnt he would have it impounded. Bu t little did he know that car isnt in my name it's in my parents so i had a glasspack resonator installed and it sounds deep at wot.

 

it sounds like **** if you dont have a turbo...taking the muffler off and being NA or supercharged, the tone will be obnoxious

 

Well i guess we have rather wide spectrum of opinions here, lol I might just weld in a thrush welded muffler and be happy with it! hahaha

 

put a different muffler on it. i may be able to get my phone to upload a vid.. lemme see
