How many miles do you have on the engine? If you have many miles don't forget you will need to resurface the cylinder walls if you change the piston rings.

If you are going to push moderate amounts of air through the cylinder you can probably stick with 10:1 pistons. If you are planning on running some massive boost I would consider going to 9.5:1 or 9:1.

running 15psi you can probably get away with 10:1 as long as you keep it cool.

2.4 pistons and rods

Wiseco has made many sets of these pistons, and Carrillo has rods for the 2.4L.. i did the prototyping with them, even though other companies are selling the parts..

Just because you CAN doesn't mean it is SAFE.

does hahn mention how reliable making over 400hp is? just because it lasts for a pull or 2 doesnt mean jack. getting a stage 2 should be more than enought for most ppl anyways

i would venture to say 300whp is safe and reliable. anything much over that and you're not forged internals then you're playing the lottery.

very true

this also has nothing do to do with the tranny.. i can't guarantee the balt tranny can handle anything near that lol .. the F23 tranny has taken up to 500 whp with some clutch changes ..

however there are people that have grenaded the F23 on 200 crank hp lol

Makes me want to look into an SS/SC tranny swap. MVP hooked an SS/SC tranny up to an LE5 block, but he already had the SS/SC Cobalt. I wonder how his clutch search went and what he got out of it.

haha i was speaking mainly in terms of the engine itself. if your redlining every shift and bouncing off the limiter the engine just wont last. however if you have a car at that power level and dont dog on it it could essentially last forever(not in literal terms)

hehe yea.. i know what you meant.. i just dont want some people to think the car can handle 400 whp in stock for or even 300+ in stock form.. lol
