Post 2.4 tuning question.

All right I know this should go in the tuning section, but there is a differance in the LSJ and the LE5's. My question is in regards to the LTFT's and STFT's how is everyone tuning them, since we do not have a primary VE table. And for the MAF we have two an "Airflow vs freg low" and "Airflow vs freg high". So my question is how do I go about doing this, because mine are out of whack.

So "Witt", "Doc", "Bigworm", "Pyskosteve" please respond to this thread, I consider all of your info valueble.

.....so far over my head its not even funny.

which is exactly why I have no intentions of tuning my car w/ HP Tuners myself, lol.

Good luck!

first you need to get really high. and then all the numbers and letters on the screen will float into the air and rearrange themselves. They will tell you how to tune it to perfection.

Just do what the floating words tell you to do

PM-ing someone like psykosteve may bring better results than this thread. just a suggestion. Not many people know how to tune the 2.4

REDFOCZ,

you probably already know this, but many people have different theories on how to calibrate the MAF. some people think disabling LTFT and using STFT's is the way to go, some people think LTFT's... some people mix LTFT+STFT and do some crazy math... and some people say **** LTFT and do it by wideband... either way will work on our cars. The only thing to note is a wideband is the only way to get damn-near-dead-on... LTFT's float alot but are doable. STFT's change far too much depending on weather.

as far as low and high tables, note that one table starts where the other left off (5700hz? im at work)... its really one big table thats been cut into two due to pcm limitations.

without a wideband this is what i normally do:
the easiest way with LTFT's is, disable COT, DFCO, and PE... setup 2 histrograms with LTFT mapped out on the high/maf and low/maf tables. copy/paste these numbers to your editor by right clicking the table and selecting "multiple by % 1/2". you'll need to do this about 3-4 times over the course of several hundred miles and you'll be damn close. Theres some extra trickyness with the histogram you can setup, and theres tons of example on hptuners.com

with a wideband:
basically the samething as LTFT method, expect you graph command AFR and actual AFR and find the difference and apply it to the same tables in the editor.

theres nothing special about our pcm's that the many other method used on hptuners.com's forums wouldnt work.. in fact, many 06/07 v8 models use our pcm, including the C6

Thank you Bigworm. So I was on the right path. But I do not have a wideband at the moment. It is going to be the next thing I buy, which might be this week. But I will not be abloe to log it because I only have the basic HP tuners box. I will update this post with my progress. :twothumb:

Thanks worm, I did this today, I did mine off of the LTFT. And it seems like it helped alot. When I started my LTFT's were -10 & -11 across the board. And after a few hours and alot of driving I was able to bring them down to be within -3 & +2 for the LTFT. I will most likely do this a few more time so try and get them all onto the negative side and no postive numbers.

Nope, I am N/A for now, but my fuel trims were out of whack. So I tuned them via the MAF.
