2.4 tuning ?'s

ok so i am about to SC my 2.4 and i am currently fully bolted and trifecta tuned. i am also a automatic.

now to my questions. what do you autos have your shift points set at? i know stock it shifts at 6750 when you have your vehicle in D, and 7k when it's in WOT in L or 2. currently i have it set to where at WOT it will shift at 7k in WOT.

now where in the RPM range do we start to lose our power and it becomes pointless to go this high? I have looked at a few peoples graphs and have noticed this point is around 5800 RPMs or so. i will be doing a dyno this saturday and will check mine to see as well. but say it is 5800 if we set the shift point to say 6200 could this make our cars quicker in the 1/4? because you would go to a little past the top of our power bands and then shift us back into it?

next question does HPT have access to our VVT?

Also has anyone tuned to advance fuel enrichment from the stock 4k to like 1k? i dont think i would do 1k i would probably do maybe 2.5k or so, so i can drive normal.

Now this is a 2.4sc with 3.3" pulley and full stock exhaust. Considering the hp curve kept climbing all the way to my redline of 6750, I'd set my shift points as close to that as possible, if not higher, which I know some people have done, just not me.

I had about 20hp/35ft lbs more in torque, but same setup. Dyno'ed in a 40deg workshop could've skewed the numbers as well. You should see numbers in that range 200-225hp/215-240ft lbs on a 3.34"

Come back to reality...it's a DD that's a little quicker than before. It's complicated to tune, why mess with it and potentially jeporadize drivability or even your motor. Leave the VVT alone.

well when you have someone that is experienced and knows what they're doing it's a different story. you can keep the driveability and get the performance that i am looking for. i may personally not be able to do it but i do know at least or two guys near me that do and will take care of my car. thanks for the concern bud

Not boasting numbers here, in fact those are nothing special for a m62 2.4. Just wanted to show you where the hp curve is to obtain your shift points.

well i have found out that you can actual tune to where your shift points should be. i have been talking with the local guy about it. i will let everyone know. i am getting dyno'd tomorrow the way my car is now, exhaust, intake, tune. exhaust. and i will dyno again when i get my dyno finalized. well i will be very happy with 260whp. i have a 2.9 and 2.8 pulley. i think im going to buy a 3.0 off of here soon, once i find one. start with that. get a good base tune, then drop one pulley size tune and dyno, then drop another pulley size finally to a 2.8 tune for that and dyno finally again to get dinal numbers. i may noit drop to the 2.8 for awhile though. i dont think i want to drop to the 2.8 until i get meth.

It's because I've personally been there. Don't go extreme in your mods if it's a d/d and you personally don't know how to deal with the hiccups or you will really wish you didn't go down that path. I didn't even go stupid extreme. It took me 2 years to figure out all these hiccups because I don't know anyone in my area that could help.

i completely agree with this statement but i have a bunch of local guys that i know and trust and they really know their stuff and the more i read the more i learn and im on here a lot. tuning is THE most important thing with a cars driveability period end of story and i have that taken care of so i should be alright.

I found that pushing shift points to 6700-7000rpm wasn't ideal for my 2.4. Granted, car was running like crap. Just seemed like it lost its efficiency. Not an SC but you get the idea. Hot as **** that day..
