CA vs. ZZP Headers

Well, I've been looking into my various header options and I've narrowed it to:

A) CA v1 Header+XTC DP (1.7" Primaries, 2.25 Collector. 2.5 DP Exit w/ hi-flo cat & stainles steel) (COME WIDEBAND READY) $500 SHIPPED.

B) ZZP Header & DP COMBO (1.5 Primaries, 2.5 collector & DP exit. w/ hi-flo cat & stainless[+$70] & wideband opt. [+20]. $509.99 PLUS SHIPPING.
{369.99+20forwideband+70forstainless+50forcat=509. 99 not including shipping}

Now, so far, CA seems like the better deal right? !!!BUT!!! the header only has a 2.25 collector...so my question is(I've heard that your exhaust is only as big as its smallest point) will having this make the rest of my exhaust useless as if i have 2.25 all the way back? Any help is appreciated, THANKS!!!

A custom exhaust shop could make the CA header have a 2.5 collector no problem! The 1.7 primaries with the 2.5 collector and DP would be your best bet.

The CA header seems plenty sufficient for my 2.4SS. I have it paired with an XTC 2.5" de-cat downpipe and an ARK N2 cat-back.

But would that one point weaken my whole exhaust system?

Here's what a good friend of mine who owns a custom exhaust shop has told me.

2.25 inch exhaust is good for about 225hp
2.50 inch exhaust is good for about 250hp
3.00 inch exhaust is good for about 300hp

Now this man has been building custom systems AND racing for the past 20 years that I know of and I feel confident enough in what he has told me to pass it along. So if your 2.4will exceed 225 hp then you may need to have a 2.5 inch collector. But as I stated above a compitent exhaust shop CAN replace the CA 2.25 collector with a 2.5 one no problems! And the 1.7 inch primaries will do you better then 1.5 ones.

Do you know Witt on here (Al) he had some done for an LSJ and I think the dude would do some for the FE5? VERY reasonably priced. Wouldn't hurt to cover all options.

+1, I just ordered mine today after doing TONS of research and contemplating

I opted for the 1 3/4" primaries, ceramic coating, SS dp, highflow cat and the extra bung for my WB, so it was a bit costly, but,

I've always believed you get what you pay for. And I can't wait to get this baby installed

I hated my XTC Downpipe. The cat emptied out on its own... so I wasted money by buying the version with the cat... and then the welds busted and it leaked like hell.

ZZP is a very good company... well respected and loved in MANY automotive worlds.

If you go ZZP replace every bit of hardware they supply. I used their bung plug... thing came right out. Used the supplied washers and they melted around the bolts causing a leak where the header meets the DP. Luckily I had already replaced the bolts because they are known to break. Go to Lowes and buy stainless lock washers, nuts and bolts. I think its a 3/8-16. 1.5 inch long. Header and downpipe are quality crafted though, good welds. Oh, and the collector is 3" not 2.5". Also I think the vers. 2 CA has a larger collector if you're daring.

There is nothing wrong with a 2.25" collector. Exhaust nauturally flows to more open areas so if you go 2.5" catback it may help your scavenging effect plus you'll retain most of your low end. I wanted a little more uptop so I went with the 1.75 ZZP. I'll probably cam/blow it.

What are the benefits of the zzp mid length header downpipe combo vs the vibrant header and downpipe? It sorta seems that for the same price the vibrant is all stainless whereas the zzp is only stainless downpipe. I could be wrong.

I daily drive my car hard (over 41k on the clock) with both a CA header and an XTC downpipe, and neither has ever given me any trouble.
