Question Cobalt 2006 N/A - SWAP TO BETTER ENGINE ????

Hi everybody, i have a cobalt SS 2006 N/A, had a problem the other day, out of nowhere, oil light popped out for maybe 0.03 seconds and since then, i can hear the crank knocking in the engine, first taugh it was a problem over the timing chain (i was hoping) but after more check ups, we found out that the crank had a problem (we could feel the crank knocking while touching the gas and putting and hand on the bottom of the engine, we could even feel it. THAT SAID ! I NEEED AN ENGINE SWAP ! I can't realy find any thread on my exact problem so i was wondering what was the BEST engine i could put in, would you guys go back with the 2006 N/A 2.4 engine or would you guys go for any engine with a S/C or T/C ?? Let me know guys, im doing the engine swap latest next week so it gives me a week to make sure on which engine to put in ! THANKS !!

keep the same engine you had in it, the wiring to swap to another ecotec engine would be more hassle than just getting another car

Thats pretty much where i was aiming to, keeping the same engine (well replacing with a new 2.4 i mean) at that point, to have a bit more fun with it, what would be the simple stuff i could had up to the engine to have more fun/power with it ?

changing to LSJ or LNF will require a rewire, which is a very time intensive process, paying someone to do it is $$$. Mitchell1 is pretty much the standard for wiring diagrams. but membership is $$$, if you poke around you might be able to get a login.

i would try and find a 2005-6 LE5, here they are in junkyards for a $200-300

the 2006 LE5 has stronger rods/pistons, so if you do want to mod it down the road it will handle power better.
