Doing a 2.2 to 2.4 swap

So, newbie here and I have a request. Long story short, wife hydrolocked my 2.2. Ordered a 2.4 from ebay and its supposed to arrive tomorrow. I've already figured out the differences between the L61 engine harness and the LE5 engine harness. I just need to add the 2 connectors for the cam phaser solenoids and 1 connector for the exhaust camshaft position sensor. The ECM is the exact same part number, so I only need to reflash my ecm with the calibration for an '08 Cobalt SS/NA with the 2.4 and MANUAL trans. So, my question is, can anyone out there pm me the last 8 of their vin so I can reflash my ecm with it? Thanks in advance.

How in the hell did your wife manage to hydrolock a cobalt?! Unless you have a true CAI you would have to be under like 3 feet of water

Well, I should hope so. But is providing pics of my car gonna be enough? Or should I tell you about myself. Been a Cobalt owner since they debuted in 2005. This is my second Cobalt. Been a GM technician for 6 years. As for my Cobalt, its nothing special. Just an '08 Cobalt LS. And yes, it was the Injen cold air intake.

You should be able to see the #3 connecting rod sticking out the bottom of the lower crankcase. And to the left, you'll see where that half of the connecting rod wedged and prevented the motor from cranking.

Holy hell man that sucks. I bet with the new motor you'll be tentative about leaving the CAI on instead of just the SRI

Has nobody done this swap? I know some people might be intimidated by adding circuits to a harness, especially to the giant ecm connector, but it just takes a little patience. I'll make sure I take good pics of the harness modification.

Got the motor last week. Slapped the new flywheel and clutch on and cleaned up the intake and exhaust sides.

I thought the junkyard was just going to cut the harness, but they took off every individual connector. So, I had to pony up for the additional connectors.
Part # 13580871 Exhaust Cam Position Sensor Connector
15306430 Intake Cam Actuator Solenoid Connector
19178093 Exhaust Cam Actuator Solenoid Connector

And there's the reason I'm doing this whole crazy deal.

Never seen it done, but to be honest thats just because its not a common swap, talking only 07-08 L61s, it also not technically legal in any state that does OBD inspections.

Never thought about the legality side. As long as everything looks factory and functions as such, inspectors here don't care.

Progress update. Got the 7 new circuits added to the L61 engine harness. First pic is the ECM connector disassembled and the 7 wires added. Each wire is labeled with its appropriate circuit number. Second pic is the harness back together with the 7 circuits routed to their final destinations. I think I am going to wait until the harness is on the motor before I put the final touches and add the connectors.

Nice, glad to see someone do it right and add the connections to the harness and such. I think I may have had them on a spare harness I have here, but I just saw the thread.

I would have suggested just getting a vin off of e-bay or whatever, cars.com or something. As you said, any 2.4 manual '08 VIN would work fine.

No, unfortunately, the block didn't have a vin. Even if it had, it wouldn't have done me any good. Motor is from a Malibu. They don't get manuals.

Yes, someone on this board kindly supplied me with a good vin. I VIS'ed it already. Came back as a '08 2.4 manual Cobalt sedan. Hopefully there isn't a difference in a sedan vs coupe tune.

Is there a difference between the 2.2 injector harness and the 2.4 injector harness? The connectors look pretty similar.
