I would use a junkyard VIN. If you use someone else's good vin you can void there warranty. They go in for service and there calibration gets checked, it won't match because your car has the newest software, so it looks like their car has been tuned, or ECM swapped, surefire way to get power train warranty voided if an issue ever came up on their car.

could this also be a loop hole around the trifecta only tuneing? i have an 06 l61... your an 05 l61 puting an 08 le5 in... this could entirely work to unlock the cars plus be a very benificial upgrade to boosted balts because of head flows...

Will be cool to see it pulled off. But I wouldve done a hybrid. But props for being a first!

Sorry I haven't updated in a while. Been having issues with my diesel truck, so been short on time. Hopefully some time will open up for me this weekend.

Progress update. Got the motor in the car. Should have it buttoned up within the week. That's an optimistic goal. We'll see what really happens.

To tell you the truth, the only difficult part is the harness modification. Everything else is pretty straight forward. The engine bolts right in as normal. And the ECM is just a re-flash. I'm going with an OEM reflash because I'm a cheap skate and I have the tools/resources to do it. When its done, I'll do a write-up for the harness modification.

Progress is slow but steady. Since my LE5 came out of a frontal impact Malibu, I didn't get an intake or throttle body. I was already running a 2.4 intake on my 2.2, but I don't have a 2.4 tb. Any thoughts on how bad it will run with the 2.2 tb? Next is solder in the added connectors and wait for my new sri from Maven to arrive.

Running the 2.2 tb on the stock 2.4 tune it might not be very happy but not gonna cause anything horrible. Worst case scenario, find a 2.4 tb for sale on here or ebay, shouldn't cost you a ton

All done and buttoned up. Gonna bring her with me to work for a new thermostat, water pump and cv boot. Should have video up soon.

New cam phaser solenoid connectors

New exhaust cam position sensor connector installed. Kinda hard to see it, but that's the point.

This is huge if everything runs properly then it proves a cobalt can be swapped . Great job and yes please post up a vid asap. I think this should become a permant thread once the op goes through the entire swap process.

Got the new water pump and thermostat in this morning. Finished everything else and started it. Watching the cam actuators move on the tech2 was pretty cool. After driving about 75 miles today and no MIL, I think we can say it was a success. And yes, I didn't even know what I've been missing. Even with the restrictive 2.2 tb, it will still scoot pretty well above 2000 rpm.

Sorry for not understanding. What all modifications did u have to do to the harness? Like did u have to buy new connectors and everything? I may run a 2.4 for lil extra up with my turbo kit. My 2.2 is maxed out

Yes, I had to add 3 extra connectors. Both cam actuator solenoids and the exhaust cam position sensor.
