ECM question

Would I be able to swap my 08 Sport ECM with an 07 SS/NA's? The reason being so HP tuners can work on it, since it doesn't for the 08 ECM. I know I know trifecta, but I'd like it better if I could have my buddy tune me.

The short answer is no because the ECM's have completely different pin layouts. The long answer is yes however you'll end up spending more than its worth to rewire the entire car.

I've seen similar questions asked. Its the same if you wanted to swap out the engine to one other than a 2.4L. It requires the ECU that goes with that particular engine and also requires the car to be rewired, it sucks that they don't offer the Ecotec engines as drop in crate motors with a standalone ECU.

agreed...the reason the Chevy smallblock was/is so popular is because you can mod the HECK out of it if you want to. Hard to believe Chevy lost touch with that idea...probably thank the Government emissions regulations though...

its in the engine bay just in front of the fuse box.

as for tuning a 08 there is LS2edit and trifecta, those are your only options.

Having ECU Issues so I have a new one. Is it a problem just to swap the ECU with the new one? It should work normal if its the same one correct? I have the 2.4 NON SC 2006

I found an ECU with 17,000 miles and its an identical 2006 cobalt SS 2.4. This should be an even swap with out any need of some kind of preprogramming from a dealer does it?

Not sure about that...could be a problem when "communicating" with the other modules since the VIN is different or it may not have all the same RPOs/options. You can try it...and let everyone know if it works.

if i'm not mistaken the ecm has to be reprogrammed with your cars vin in order for it to work correctly.

E37 and don't even consider a swap.

BTW, HPTuners now has E37 support in beta!
