Help with ordering a cobalt SS 2.4?

Well I'm going to order one when the 2008 come out a Cobalt Sport 2.4. I was wondering if i order it with a exhaust kit is it still legal because it come stock like that (Because we have ahole pigs especially one around here even pulled my papaw over and gave him a ticket and he had a stock exhaust on it). I want to try to keep a warranty and was thinking about ordering the GM intake how much hp does it give and how much does injen give. I don't really want cold air intake where i live messy road and snow and everything.

If i find one on the lot and get them to install this will it still be under warranty?

I have heard the 2008 sport are just going to have 171hp i know 2 less but its also showing that it will not have VVT how bad will this hurt in the performance and gas mileage?

i have the gmpp intake and the gmpp performance exhaust which is all under warrenty and it sounds great. the intake is about 3-6 whp, the exhaust is about 5-12 whp. and if you get header and dp thats about 5 each. probly the vvt isnt going to effect the gas milage unless it says so on the ticket.

it wont be factory equipped, youll order the car, request the exhuast, and then the dealership will install the part.

What are you smoking?! 5-12 whp? The exhaust itself, without the downpipe and header is rather useless, its a noise maker. You get the gains from a full exhaust, not just the cat-back.

yeah the dealer can put those parts on they might charge you though 100 an hr lol. why dont you do it doesnt take but 2 hrs to do all exhaust and intake with 2 people. your lookin at 1100 or so from the dealer and 600 aftermarket parts elsewhere. at the most but all gm parts are warrented.

ryan.

thats what i meant. i got a total of 30whp more with all that. i e h dp and injectors. with a good tune. but its decent for guessing.

JonyyB posted a thread a long time ago where the GMPP touring exhaust made 12 hp alone..... I think.....

EDIT: its the performance cat back and it is 12 whp

So you're in the 180-190whp? The tune is what opened it up, with fulle xhaust, but JUSt the cat back, MAYBE will give you 1-2hp.

ryan. the exhaust wasnt much hp but jonny b did get 12 i seen him i talked to him at my dragway 42 meet like in june.

That doesn't make sense that JUST the cat-back would make 9-12 whp. I had it (GMPP Sport Cat-Back) on my 2.2L, and it didn't make a 9-12 whp difference. Car felt the same, just louder.

I just got shown the link. I stand corrected.

I definitely don't mind admitting that I was wrong.

well in my 1/8th mile i ran a 9.513 havnt ran a 1/4 yet but if i kept up the way i was runnin probly 15 flat or high 14s.

well i think if i figured it right when i threw on my exhaust it was like 5-10 whp no 9-12 but i dont know just guessing. but im sure the exhaust is a good gain.

ryan. the dp really opens it up alot from the 2.25 to 2.5 highflow

im glad my car is still registered for michigan, the cops in VA tried to give me a ticket for everything on my car. The cop told me he wanted to give me a ticket for my exhaust, the 20% tint and my vent shades lol, but cant because my car was registered for michigan and the military exempt me from the ticket. lol i could tell he was heated because he wasted his time on me, so he gave me a ticket for having something hanging from my rearview mirror, lol

out here in VA (if you are a registered resident that is) anything after market done to your car that did not come from the dealer is deemed illegal if they want to be dicks to you about it. One guy on my ship because he had VA plates was forced to take his body kit off and go back to the stock bumpers and side skirts. VA cops are asses but only if you arnt "ricen'" around town then they are cool with ya.

Yea they gave my cousins wife a ticket for having her high school thing that goes on your hat for graduation on her rear view mirror.

My papaw got pulled over for having a stock exhaust and the officer gave him a ticket and said it was a flowmaster ( you couldn't even hear the truck running hardly). So they went to court and he beat it and the officer told him in court if i catch you back in town i will give you another ticket and the judge told my papaw that he may want to get it changed to suite the one police officer. When papaw told me this i told him to screw that pig and don't do it, but he did anyway.

So if i install the gm intake or any gm part it will be under warranty? I thought the dealership had to install it?
