HP Difference

With the 06 2.4 having 171 hp and the 07 with 173 hp and at a lower RPM, where does it come from? Is it just a different computer calibration?

I still say my 06 2.4L was above the 173 range. I dynoed stock 150 to the wheels on a hot day with 87 octane. The 173 hp range to the crank is suppose to be around 145 to the wheels, unless we really have that shitty of a drive train loss. I also heard the 07's are a little slower because of a computer malfunction, something they're being recalled for or something like that?

So theres actually no difference in power? I feel sorry for the people who paid more for the 07 when you could have still had an 06.

nothing wrong with buying an 07,I took a test in one with another member and gm seems to have wrinkled out a few things, third years a charm they say!

No I would have rather had a 07 but my main reason was for those few extra horsepower, the thing for me is that it would have been so much more than the 06 when they were clearing the 06s off the lots. So with the same power I'm glad I got the 06. Believe me though I would rather have the 07 just for the fact that its a new model year, if nothing else.

150 sounds about right....if it is sae corrected, heat shouldn't really cause THAT big of a difference, and the timing drop from the 87 octane shouldn't really lose much power.

But still, 150 to the wheels with a 20% powertrain loss, equates to a little more than what GM says they make. That should be around 180 to the engine, correct me if Im wrong because I dont know what loss we have with our tranny.

there is no way you have a 20% drivetrain power loss. that is so much! i bet you have closer to 15-17%. remember, fwd cars have the LEAST power loss. hell man an evo has about 20% drivetrain power loss and i t is awd.
