INJEN SRI installed

My first mod!

Much thanks to Jekyl for giving me a hand (hope you got all your tools back!) We just did the SRI cause I don't feel like taking my bumper off.

I will go back to the track as soon as it reopens (they are paving) and report back on any improvements.

It sounds very cool and loud. There is a tiny bog but other then that it feels more responsive.
Didn't disconnect the battery no CEL.

On the butt-dyno it does feel better but the track (or dyno) is where the real proof is.

Cool.

Not fully sure if the 2.4s have IAT sensors or another type of sensor, but as long as the sensor that was in your original airbox is in your aftermarket one, you shouldn't have any codes.

no need to take off the bumper. just take off your passenger front wheel and disconnect a few of te plastic plugs, then move your wheel well cover and it's right there!

True

Just did it in my buddys 2.4L

He just took off the wheel well plastic cover and you have perfect access to everything.

Taking the bumper off would be nutz

AVRO,

I did my Injen Thursday. Also did short ram. If the Cobalt is like other cars you may loose like 1 hp from going short ram, but you gain throttle response. You reset the ecm right?

Good going.

uh negative on the ECM. Do I disconnect at the battery or can I disconnect in the engine bay?

AVRO,

I disconnected at the trunk. Not sure about the Cobalt, but with other cars I heard it is best to get the engine warmed up, then disconnect one lead (for 12-15 minutes, this is neccessary because of the retained power module) - then reconnect, and drive like a madman for about 20 to 30 minutes. If you have to re-set all your radio stations that is a good sign you did indeed reset.

I did not feel much if any bump until after I reset.

Avros is hitting it too. We just put some black tape around the black metal piece (used for lifting engine out of engine bay) so that the SRI could lean against it without getting scratched up.

I too the scew off the positive cable and pulled but it did not budge. Is there a trick or do you really have to yank it?

I did the negative. It doesn't matter which terminal - you are just breaking the loop. There is a small 10mm nut that holds the negative terminal on. Loosen that until you can wiggle the terminal around on the battery post, and then it should lift off. Once you get it off, leave it disconnected for 12-15 minutes. Then tighten back on, and enjoy.

You will be glad you did. I can not tell you how the positive (red) terminal is set up. I never even removed the red rubber cover to look at it.

Any time we do an engine/ecu/intake/exhaust mod - we should reset the ecu. In this way we "tell" the ecu our components have changed, and the ecu will re-calibrate to take advantage of the mod.

I could lend a hand now that I have seen it done. Jeykl did most of the work Hardest part is getting that palstic piece that goes over the TB off.

Are you going SRI or CAI? What community in Calgary do you live?

But bring it out to Race City first! Then you can guage the actual effectiveness of the mod.

AVRO & Guys,

I had some time on my hands - I extended the Injen SRI to make it a CAI. I did it without removing the right front wheel - although in hind site that would have been a good idea, because I ended up jacking up the right front quarter anyway to get at some of the bolts/screws that held the plastic wheel well in there.

This kind of bleeds into another thread - but my butt meter says there may (only may) be more top end with the CAI, but I think I did loose some responsiveness, and maybe a little low end. I will probably go back to the SRI. Actually I'd like to take some measurements and see if I can come up with an intake that is half way between the SRI, and the CAI in length.

Speed Tech racing. They are on 32nd ave NE. $350 taxes in. Injen shipped them the S/C intake (Speed Tech did order the correct part #) so it because of their mistake it took awhile.
Hopefully that will not happen to you.

If your buying from Spedtech-they do not stock them but will place an order with Injen. It will take a few weeks.
