MAF problem

SJSchafer was tuning my car when we came across this problem.

"Update...

Well, he came over and I was able to dial in some things to get hit running a bit better. The problem we had was that he came over with a CEL that came on when he installed his Injen intake. I scanned it and it wasn't a lean code, like I expected, but a MAF failed code. The MAF hz are reading 0 all the time. I reset the ECM and set the DTC to no error reported and his car wouldn't idle at all. Still 0 on the MAF. All I can think of is a screwed MAF sensor. Any ideas? By the way, with the MAF unplugged and the key in run, I get 12v to the center pin on the plug and 5v to the end pin (don't remember the color)."

Is the MAF installed in the right direction? If it is then check the fuses. Sometimes they are not seated right or installed in the right pins but I guess you said you are geting 12 V. If it is not either of these then yes I would think that the MAF sensor is hooped and needs replacement. You could also try cleaning it also.

cheers

ya the first thing we did was clean it, and we made sure it was in the right way. I think it needs to be replaced.
