Might go back to stock..

Okay.. i love this injen intake but i think some problems have started since i installed it... 1. my traction controll off light keeps coming on while im on the highway.. 2. lean code which isnt a big deal.. 3.since my t/c off light has been flashing every so often now my traction control doesnt work at all.. i mean i dont really like the damn thing but i would much rather have it turned off by a ecm tune than have it malfunction (i tried testing if the t/c was working today in the rain, i spun the tries with no low traction message).. i didnt believe that the intake could cause probs with the t/c but in the manual it states "if the traction control system is affected by an engine related problem the system will turn off and the warning light will come on" Again this problem has only been occuring after i put in the injen intake..i would really hate taking it off since i love the gains... i would like to know your thoughts on what i should do about this... i've already taken the car in to the dealership and all they could find was the lean code.. i went and bought my obd II CAN scanner and confirmed the lean code but i also had 2 pending DTC's which the scanner didnt have anything available for... should i change it back to stock and see what happens?

theory:

getting lean code. T/C cuts fuel. they don't want it going any leaner than it is (or the PCM is seeing), so it's disengaged.

try to clean the filter and lightly re-oil if it's oiled (not sure on Injen systems) and clean the MAF. you shouldn't really be having these issues from just an intake.

More Than Likely The Traction Control Light Is A Result Of A Bad Ebcm (electronic Brake Control Module) Or A Short In The Ipc (instrument Panel Cluster) Usually A Cai Will Not Affect T/c

reason TC light comes on is cuz of a bad relay, or somethings loose have the dealer check it out and they should fix it for free

your intake has nothin to do with ur tc light comin on... so goin back to stock would be pointless but u can burn out ur tc by racin in drive and applyin the brake before launch wich i know alot of people do that sounds crazy but yes u can burn it out ive seen people do it.. so hopefuly that wasnt the case pluss it tells u not to do that in ur manual also somethin about ur e brake and doin a burn out lol... but yeah take it to the gm garage and have it looked at is the best thing to do instead of returnin somethin to stock wich if u only have an intake wont even be the problem...

okay thanks guys.. i will bring it in by sometime this week.. i will keep the intake.. one thing though this car hauls ass without the t/c lol.. but it works great in the snow... i did have a few hard launches while getting on a busy highway.. but it was either that or never getting on the highway at all.. ppl in jersey are rough... im thinking that might have caused it also..

you know i will never understand why my girlfriend's moms saturn ion has a t/c on off switch and our SS!! do not..

lean code could be caused from your intake. not cause its getting more air but because your mass air flow sensor might have got to much oil from your filter. thats what happened to me. take off your intake clean it and remove all the oil. it might be to late for your sensor.

well the cel went away on its own, but i guess it wasnt cleared off the system. The techs said not to worry about it if my car is running fine or it keeps happening.. how can i clean the filter.. i thought injen did not use oil on their filters.

FYI do not take your 2.4 ss to autozone they do not have the latest obd II scanners. Our car needs the OBD II CAN scanner, they could not get the handheld to link with the ecm. I picked one off ebay for 60 bucks.

The injen definately uses an oiled filter. That's why I went with the AEM. If you don't oil the filter you're gonna get all kinds of crud that gets through it. Especially with pollen season coming up for you guys in jersey!

Hey cillkupid, how do you like the sound of the AEM? Did you notice any power gains and did you go with the SRI or CAI?

Alright, i got my dryflow filter today..i will install it today and let you know what happens.. from looking at the filter it seems like more air would flow through it, it does not have that mesh on there like on the injen.. hopefully i dont see a performance drop.. after all its just a filter, i dont buy injen's velocity stak malarky in the filter... i also ordered the extrude honed header i will let you guys know how that goes aswell.

alright i installed the AEM Dry Flow filter.. no noticable performance differences, no cel yet.. the only difference i noticed was the sound, the car sounds a little bit deeper.. can't wait to see what the gmpp manifold will do for this car with the intake complementing it.. the car pulls nicely to 40.. after that it hauls ass to about 65 where i notice it could use a tad more power... i know most of you havent had a cel with your injen intakes.. but for those who are worried or that have id recommend the AEM Dry Flow filter
