my corsa is 2.5 and is a nice improvement, but yeah the 2.4 and 2.0 both come with a factory tuned exhaust changing the muffler would be fine for a small increase

If it's like the SS/Sc and Ion RL are pipes are 2.5" up until the rear suspension and then they made it 2.25" a lot of people just step up the 2.25 to 2.5

It's not bad driving around town...but it drones pretty bad at 70+mph cause the speed limit here is 75mph. It's pretty deep sounding also. If you want a quiet muffler and have a nicer sound only when flooring it I would get a hi-flow chambered muffler. It would be as good as a straight through one but it wouldn't drone on the highway.

Thats what i was thinking it was. Looks like i'll just be replacing that 2.25 portion with 2.5 and a muffler. Thanks guys

yes it should be just like the ss/sc / RL in that it is all 2.5 until the back 1/4 where it drops to 2.25.

the setup that im selling right now is perfect. replaced the over the axle part with 2.5 and then have a 2.5 magnaflow muffler and IMO has no drone periods. its beautiful and when you down shift or left it engine brake ........ OMG its just a beautiful deep mean sound

The Solstice comes with 2.5" piping all the way back. It's one of the improvements the car has over the various other 2.4L VVT based cars that helps it have a higher rated HP value. Unless you're planning on producing well over 300HP the 2.5" pipe sizing is more then enough according to several of the supporting vendors at the solstice forum. Some have tried 3" piping and seen a very small increase in power over 2.5" but at a much larger cost and a much greater increase in 'raspy' sounding exhaust note.

So the base cars have 1.75 the whole way back or does it change like the SS? I'm gonna do a 2.5 catback made at my local muffler shop, what kinda magnaflow are you guys using? And what length resonator or stock? Part # on 2.5" magnaflow plz?

in my opinion i would not go for the 2.5 piping and the high flow cat unless we can get some good tuning. i have 2.5 piping with a 2.5 high flow cat from my header to resonator and my car has been parked for three days. im having some major problems high flow eficiency and maf sensor lighs coming on. to much air flow going in and to much out. i would just replace the mufler and leave the rest of the exhaust alone. just my opinion
