yeah after i install stage 2 from hahn ill most likely have to upgrade the tranny before i can go to stage 3.

I am using a 2.4 in a custom offroad vehicle that I am building and fear that my 4t45e may not be up to the task of the abuse I know I will be putting on it. In addition the 65e final drive ratios are more favorable to what I am doing. I will be shifting full manual 100% of the time so I can easily get past the shift control logic simply by building a custom shifter or modifying an existing one. I do see that the 45e PC solenoid operates at 614hz whereas the 65e is 292.5hz. But this swap has been done before using the 45e TCM and I am curios as to how. Maybe the 45e solenoid physically fits in the 65e bore? Just looking at pics of both it appears to be a possibility. I don't have either in front of me to say for sure. The 45e TCC solenoid operates at 42hz and the 65e at 32hz, so that is an issue too. I think once you get past those two solenoids though you are home-free with a customized shifter.

Looking closer, the solenoid logic is only different for the one solenoid and it is opposite in every gear. Just run the 45e signal through a standard relay before it hits the trans and that issue is solved.

I found a cheap pwm frequency converter too ...

Well **** ... I'm getting close to answering my own question. I'm finding that some sources list the valves as the same exact part whereas others do not. In addition pictures of both make them look very, very similar. This is hinting that the valves don't in fact matter. I'm still wanting to hear from those more in the know though.

This site lists the valves as being the same part between 45 and 65. (As well as many other GM transmissions.)

Judging by what I've learned so far about PWM, the frequency doesn't really matter to the valve, its the duty cycle that matters which is determined by the ECM. I'm betting my 45 TCM can control the 65 just fine with the addition of a standard 5-pin relay to invert the solenoid B signal.
