Time for Mods

I have about $1500 that I can spend on my 2006 Cobalt SS and I was looking for which mods would be the best or best bang for the buck (whichever is a better deal). I am looking at things like CAI, exhaust, injectors, reflash....etc. I do need to know if the reflash is worth it in th non-supercharged Cobalt or not. I am eventually going to get the S/C spoiler on the car and I can't wait but performance first. So I am looking for the most HP/torque gain possible and which companies are best.

Vector or westers ecu tune $300-$400, Intake look on ebay for used ones or a member on here any intake for a 2.2 cobalt will fit a 2.4 $150-$250. On our exhaust the exhaust is 2.5" up to the axle where it drops to 2.25, get that 2.25 replaced with 2.5" by a muffler shop and have htem put your choice of muffler on $150-250 depending on muffler and shop. Next personally for the best gains and if you don't care about your loosing your cat go with the weapon r 4-2-1 header w/straight pipe $550 of ebay. Or if you do want your cat go with a 4-1 header and look at zzp's performance downpipe w/high flow cat or cobalt addiction has one as well. Do a little searching on here and you will see what us 2.4 guys can do. HOnestly if i was you, i'd save a little more and work on swapping a supercharger over from the s/c's but tahts if you ahve the patience and know how.

i agree with everything except forthe intake and exhaust...if you want a good intake get one thats specifically made for our cars...and as for the exhaust dont go the cheap route and get it custom made...thats for hondas...go buy a magnaflow or a corsa (will cut your money nearly in half)...hope this helps

I posted that because he wants bang for the buck. And its not "Hondas and ricers" its for people who would rather get the sound they want not what some company gives them, and spend half as much, my 2.5" cost $160 how much did yours?

its financially retarded to replace a stock 2.5" exhaust with a shiny $700 version

new header, new cat, new resonator, new rear muffler and 2.5" piping after the rear axle. I would be more worried about the stock muffler choices than the piping diameter.

Ion is absolutely right about it being dumb to replace perfectly good 2.5" piping with a shiny new catback for no real reason.

However, he left out that you're probably going to want to replace the factory b-pipe (yo Adam!) while you're at it, ours is pretty ugly (I'm talking restrictive, not visually). Check this link from ZZP to see what I'm talking about:

http://www.zzperformance.com/cobalt_...23d71df7588326

When I finish my exhaust with a custom header-back section, I'm also going to have a peice of 2.5" flexpipe put in at the header flange. I plan on upgrading all my mounts to poly and I don't want to break anything. Something worth considering.

No its fine i know its your preforance over mine. I just can't justify spending that much on an exhaust for the gains you get. Would rather spend that on other things. After all its just some pipeing and a muffler.

www.Intense-Racing.com has the Corsa touring exhaust for $615 shipped. Sounds great and was VERY easy to install. Only took me an hour =) . Jack the car up. Make a cut, remove 2 bolts on the resonator flange and take the old exhaust of the hangers and put the new one in. You get what you pay for, remember that. With Corsa the quality is definitely there! Not ricey at all. Injen Cold air intakes are about $230 from www.turbotechracing.com.

I need a link on the Vector's or Wester's ECU tune if you have it and I am trying to decide which is better Injen or AEM CAI and I have decided to go with the Touring Corsa Exhaust from TurboTech. Will that Corsa exhaust make the car louder or less than stock, because stock is pretty good and if it was a little bit louder thats fine but I do not want it softer than stock.
