Torque perdiction??

I have a 08 sport ...

Stock is 171Hp, 163 lb tq...

I have a 2.5" catback exhaust and a K&N SRI...

I know that the Intake doesnt REALLY give me 15 more HP like it says on the package... My question is what would my stats ROUGHLY be??? how much HP and TQ? i dont have a dyno anywhere near me so i can never check i just want to know roughly what i'm pushing

the numbers u think u have are at the crank. not all of that power reaches the wheels, maybe 85% of it does due to drivetrain loss. Hence why these guys said whp (wheel horsepower) instead of just hp

every car has that "problem"
typically, a FWD car has 85% of its power reach the wheels, whereas a a RWD will only have 80% of its power reach the wheels. AWDs have even less. These are just approx. numbers, but im just sayin..its not a FWD thing

I made roughly 150whp and 145wtq on a mustang a few years back. But yeah your looking at 180-185 at the motor.

I thought the horsepower ratings that GM provided were at the wheels.

isnt our exhaust 2.5" stock???
btw if ur just looking for the best dyno numbers wait til its cooler with low humidity and hop on a mustang dyno. they have a little bit more variability in their results so with the right conditions it may boost your number a bit.
also, we really lose 25% through the drivetrain??? thats a few more than i wouldve thought. hopefully the manual trans loses less than 20%. but rem, when ur figuring in drivetrain loss subtract the same number no matter the mods. it only takes X hp to turn make the drivetrain turn. just because your making more power doesnt mean that the tranny needs more power to work.

the LE5 for 2008 is rated at 171hp and 167lb-ft tq. They bumped torque up a bit in 2008, but lost 2hp vs. the 2007 model which had 173hp and 163lb-ft tq. Just a little correction for you.

You might be thinking of the SC since they underated it from the factory but ALL car companies HP ratings are at the motor....99% of the public don't know the difference of whp and crank HP so why give a lower number to a car as thats all most people see.

your mods don't really do that well. you need a header and downpipe for any increase. i noticed the biggest gain when i did header/downpipe. i dynoed mine. it was about 150 hp and 165 tq to the wheels. the short header and downpipe didn't give me more hp, just more torque, which is what's best

No, the SS/SC was never SAE rated like every other car.

GM threw a generic number out there for people.
