Post what type of oil?

I did some searches first and I couldnt find anything specific unless Im looking in the wrong places. If anyone can maybe post a link that will work too, lol.

I use castrol, like it or hate it thats fine. Ive used it ever since I had a car and I'll stick with is personally. Ive heard good things about royal purple but i know I dont need a oil like that and the price is high for a NA SS. But for anyone who uses it or knows about oil is it worth the extra to switch to a synthetic? Castrol has several types in EDGE, SYNTEC, GTX SYNBlend, GTX, GTX High Mileage. I know I dont need high mileage, lol. I usually used regular GTX in my cars. There is like a $11 difference in a full synthetic over the regular. Plus with Synblend and Edge there 2 other types of a synthetic. Anyone have a preference or is one better then the other?

The main benefits to synthetic oil are its resistance to flash, its resistance to "break down", and synthetics typically have better viscosity. The two main reasons to switch to synthetic are if you you need one of the above benefits (due to racing, modding, etc.) or to use extended drain intervals. If you are going to still change your oil at 3K-4K miles and you aren't racing the car then there is little point to switching.

^^x2 I love extra-virgins. I tried royal purple before...no difference between it and walmart synthetic oil...purple oil looks cool though, but not worth the price.

Amsoil. 5w-30w, and combo it with a puralator oil filter. The filter itself is 45 microns, vice bosh, napa, and fram filters which are 20 microns. With that combo I change out my oil every 10,000 miles or six months.

Same combo here. 10-12k between changes, filter every 6k. Switched to royal purple for an interval, burned 1/2 quart by 6k. Amsoil never burns any...

Mobil 1 5w-30 with gm filter during the warmer months
Mobil 1 0w-30 with gm filter during the colder months

Works out well. The car sounds better during the winter with the 0w in it.
