windage tray
its a piece of metal or tray that sits below the crankshaft, and when ur gettin high rpms the oil will usually flow with the crankshaft kinda swirling with it, kinda slowing it down and keeping it around. what the tray does it disrupts the whole swirling and lets the crankshaft move more freely, and also it helps to prevent air pockets to form around the oil pump screen so it doesnt cause the pump to lose its prime

The lower crankcase (bedplate) on the Ecotecs has a built-in windage/scraper. AFAIK none of the Ecotec build books have mentioned any additonal device required (other than the dry-sump engines)
