After 2.5 weeks of waiting and 17 emails to and fro, one employee calling another a liar and a moron, we still didn't have our CAI built, never mind shipped.
OTTP, finally deciding they wouldn't sell us a CAI has promised a full refund within the next couple days.
SO, I ordered ZZPs CAI and threw some extra couplers in just in case I have to cut the thing in 2 pieces to make it fit.
Should have gone ZZP from the start, It would already be installed.
Thumbs down OTTP, get your act together!
The ZZP shorty that they provided has given me nothing but problems. Vince tried tuning around it but cant get the idle issues to go away. He says that all of the issues that I'm having are due to the design of the intake. My cars rpms fluctuate or stall at idle which is really dangerous at intersections. I guess I have to buy a new intake.

ZZPs 3" CAI arrived today in one piece. Unfortunately, that Zoomer guy was very right and it didn't even come close to fitting. I had anticipated that and bought 4 additional silicone couplers, 2 45s and a straight 3" along with an extra LS4 reducer coupler. Took 3 hours, lots of measuring and 2 careful cuts and my baby now has a CAI. It doesn't look sexy, it has one huge issue but that shitty stubby is gone.
The issue: After all that work, I go to install the MAF onto the Filter end (huge filter btw, awesome) and the screw holes don't quite line up...****. I think I can trim the MAF bolt openings towards the centre of the MAF to bolt it down.
MAF sensors differ from LE5 and LSJ? I didn't think so, but too late now unless ZZP wants their CAI back in 3 sections
More tomorrow, as I`m getting a MAF low voltage DTC (but no check engine light) and my traction control service warning came on the DIC...can`t be the CAI but maybe something I did during the install.
Gonna be an LE5 expert soon enough, everything done to date has fought back and spited me...better love to learn if you like to tinker!
Washer Tank still needs to be rerouted to the other side, my mechanic called the dealer and they are telling him the LSJ tank has the same part number as the LE5...I`m going to find out the hard way if this is true, and if not the local scrap yard has a couple tanks for cobalts.
And then, finally, tuning with my tuning tutor.

Well that was weird, MAF bolted in perfectly....must have been on crack last night.
Cleaned it and bolted in, no codes and no Service Traction Control so finally good to go.
Went for a cruise, reset my fuel trims after she went lean, lean...that short stubby and sucked in filter were disrupting the MAF reading and restricting airflow for sure.
Quieted the exhaust down some too, or maybe it just removed some noise from under the hood idk.
Tune time, then I'll throw up another vid.
Edit: Washer tank is not the same, idiot parts counter newb. Now, it could fit but flipped around...might see if I can wrestle up some strips of SS flatstock and fabricate a mounting. A couple self tapping screws and some bolts and I can reuse my brand new LE5 tank. Also, haven't removed trim up by windshield wipers but I'm wondering if I couldn't reverse the plumbing and run it all down the passenger side without extra parts. I'll need to extend the wiring for sure, that much I know.
Thanks for the part#!

Hey Jon, apparently if the MAF is tempermental it throws the TracControl warning on the DIC. Rewired with proper gauge wire and connectors and cleaned the MAF and it all went away. I'm back to 14.7 on my WB during DD so the trims are all set.
One last task tomorrow, positive I've got exhaust leaks at both joints on either side of the torsion beam so I'm cementing before I log for keeps. And then, dialing in the tune. Finally.

ZZP Kit doesn't suck, but the intake is bad.
Guys I installed this kit on my HHR over a year ago and my only problem was the intake. I am not sure how to explain my thoughts on this but I'll do my best. My theory was since the MAF tube is connected directly to the filter the readings the MAF gets can be off especially at idle since airflow is so low. I can't figure out a way to describe that except by saying that location is "turbulent". I made a custom CAI and allowing the MAF to be located 12" after the filter where the air is flowing "straighter" and allowed me to get much better results tuning both low and high airflow. Not saying 12" is needed but I think even 6" would help a lot.
