2.0L turbo diesel engine may come the the U.S.

thats cool, diesel stuff is sweet for fuel economy and easy power. really the limiting factor of a diesel will be the engines mechanical limits, meaning how much boost itll take. easy to tune really, crank up the boost as high as itll go and add fuel till your egt is in the sweet spot. want more power, add a bigger turbo, crank it up as high as itll go, then add more fuel.

They are going to be in Canada next year, so says the dealership I go to. Fuel 10 cents/liter cheaper then regular. I do alot of traveling for work and the reduced fuel cost and increased MPG would be nice. All they have to do is put it in something with AWD

haha your lucky, diesel is a bit more expensive than regular gas here in North Carolina, but then again it does get a lot more MPGs so it equals out if not is cheaper than owning a gas powered car.

If diesel was cheaper/same price as gas,(as it should be its cheaper to make) i would own a diesel over a gas engine any day. and if this engine gets what some of those European diesels get would be well worth it, but our emissions suck. VW have diesels in the UK that get like 70mpg but there emissions wouldn't be legal here in the US

It would be good I'd if it was as quiet as the German diesels IMO. Had anyone heard the new vw diesels?
My friend has the new e350 blutec. Starts like a gasoline car. Sounds like one. And is just as fast as one.
I see merc vw and BMW diesel all the time. Must be a reason.

i would like it, maybe buy one. i know they would sell at least around where i live.......diesels sell like hot cakes here. i live in columbus indiana (headquarters of Cummins engine company) so everyone around here is well aware of deisel's benefits
and for all you out there that dont know, there are alot more than just it gets a little better mpg

Oh hell yes love diesel. More interested in what subaru does since their awd is un-matched. 160/265 are great numbers to start out with if the cruze ever happens to come over here.

Yeah, But id at least a vehicle with a little oomph. It gets 91MPG but also has 75BHP and 133Torques with a 3 cylinder.
In American thats 75.86 MPG. Ill take a cruze that thas 160 Horses at 55.96 MPG. Though, If i was going for a small car id get the chevy spark. Spunky looking car there Or a VW Golf R Now thats a sexy car
(Actually, personally i think the exterior of the cruze is hideous. Id perfer the Sonic 1.8 NA. Then Turbo it:P Interior though, Chevy has been getting everything right with their cars. they all look great )
Actually we have pretty lax emissions here in the states(Well...with the exception of California) Its just that Americans still remember the broke down, unreliable, dirty, terrible jalopys diesels were in the 70's and they have the mindset that all diesels are like that. Mix that with us seeing Semi trucks, Duramax Diesels that have been straightpiped and the lot and people just dont want it. Even if we want it, that doesnt matter. Because in reality, How many people on here could afford a brand new diesel. I couldnt. we would wait 2 years and buy it used. Which at that point the money is all going to the seller, not the company. So companies are trying to sell them to the older crowd. People who have money to buy a new car every year. People living or born in the 70's and early 80's. It'll take time. We have to get used to them first.
