my friend just did a tranny swap auto to manual
in his 1997 bmw M3 he did it in 2 days in his garage and cost him like 2300
but that car is going on 13 years old im sure it would be alot harder on a newer car

Its quite different and quite easier in many older cars . A 4th gen f-body can be done in an afternoon . GMlan and newer electronics made everything a nightmare or very expenisve to get around .

If u decide the economics of getting a new car dont work out in your favor , a "good " trans tune , a properly selected torque converter stall speed and a good aftermarket trans cooler will transform the way your car drives .

Sometimes people bring their own gas can and lighter to the party. Serously .... trading in a new car and losing 35-40% of your dad's money ....just to shift an econo box (my SS falls into the same econo box category...I know).

If he had said he bought it himself and wanted to swap..... I'd say go for it ..... but it was a gift .

Why not sell the car completely and use that money for tuition?

Why the hell is this thread still alive? My reply, the first one, TWO months ago should have ended this thread!

I love how everyone is just saying the same thing someone else said a day or a week ago.
