Will GM ever get back into the sport compact class?

Nothing wrong with the turbo. It's basically a super quiet nice looking car with some *****. But it has next to nothing in the handling department. Which is where the most fun is had with these kinds of cars.
How does the verano turbo have more power then the regal gs?

That segment as a whole is dying. Kids don't give a crap about power, they want internet connectivity and phone compatibility, along with cheap operating costs. People that grew up on SRT-4's and stuff have moved on to bigger/better cars and are now buying nicer stuff.
That rumor has been going around for years now. I'll believe it when I see it, and if does happen more than likely it'll be a car in the Z51 Stingray price range.
The Regal GS is WAY overpriced for what it is. If GM think thinks this meh at best powered 4 cylinder sedan is worth a $38K base price, they are wee tod did.

There probably won't ever be another Chevrolet sport-compact, which is a shame. I paid just over 20 grand for my Cobalt SS BRAND NEW that still rips to 60 in 5.5 seconds with 93k on the odometer. The nice thing is the Cobalt is actually a practical car. To get this kind of performance today you would need to pony up 40 grand for a Camaro SS. Thanks but no thanks. As a daily they suck, no room anywhere, awkward ergonomics, trunk is smaller than the Cobalt coupe, and people will ding you every chance they can get (New Yorkers are douchebags). So for 25 grand (adjusted for inflation) you can get the slow ass/gay Cruze, (LOL), 30 grand gets you a MALIBU (LOLOL), 35 grand gets a 6 cylinder Impala (better) but then again if you're going to really spend that kind of money you might as well get an Audi A4 Quattro 6 speed manual and at that price for those two cars there really is no comparison.
Some of us want to have fun when we drive, but we don't want to blow 40+ grand on a car that's just going to get driven back and forth to work. That's like buying a ******* twin lobster dinner and eating it at your desk.
I get pissed off at this dilemma on a regular basis. Don't even get me started on GM's Trucks/SUV's.

over all right now is the biggest time where the people who made the most amount of money (and basically can decide never to work again) / retired from a company (that you can no longer get pensions from in my generation of people and they can live off of 2 or3 pensions) / people who retire in general and have actually saved money are able to afford these cars.
They are just taking advantage of the situation. If GM was smart (we all know they arent) they would have a broad spectrum of cars that can grab every class of the people.. Like the ATS, you now have a coupe with AWD/RWD 2.0t and a v6, that is fully loaded like a pig.
Now bring that mentality over to racing like the Z28 and put it on the chevy brand... people will buy it

This is a good comment, because I agree. the LNF was the last of the true sport compacts that were mainly built for racing, not like the ford focus ST which is pretty classy inside and out but weighs more, also I hate hatches... Dont get me wrong, if it wasnt for the LSJ the car wouldnt of been known for what it was and what the LNF brought next, but basically I completely agree on the affordablility for a DD and a play around car when you want to WOT.

But again we know GM will market the **** out of the "good ideas" in Cadillac, then when it gets saturated in the market, bam it goes to a chevy lot lol

The SS Sedan is cool, but not 50 grand cool! It should be 40 tops. And have a manual option.

Personally speaking that Chevy SS is more car than I ever would want. I mean it's cool and all but I'm just not that into v8 power...would much rather have a flat six(which would be hot as hell)

V8 rocks. Drive a nice one for a day, especially in traffic, you'll change your mind quick.

GM won't unless there is a market for it. Take a look, other than the Focus ST (which can be optioned up to a whopping $30k), there is no market. Dodge hasn't even made an SRT-4 in like 5 years now. GM is more interested in making record breaking cars like the C7 Z06 and the Z/28. They will probably sell as many Z06s, if not more, in one year than they sold Cobalt SS/TCs in their best year... sadly.

Do you have a link to Dodge announcing this? I don't want to sound pessimistic, but that's what we've heard for over 2 years now, and there won't be a Dart SRT4 for 2015 either. It's all just rumors and speculation. It's supposed to have 300 hp, AWD, cost lest than $30k, and run on unicorn farts .
