Sure, but you aren't going to get one for $26k.

I'm glad someone beat me to this;

well i guess if ford wants MPGs thats the way to go but damn that thing is gonna be slow as hell haha
I'm predicting that this will be a massive hit, and make the V6 almost immediatley obsolete.

Keep in mind that of the RWD 'Pony cars', this is the lightest of the pack, and that hte 2015 will be a good 200lbs lighter, and a smidgeon smaller.
I personally don't care for IRS, but I guess that's the way things are going...

I also think that GM has totally lost it - if I was investing in them in the past, I would have sold off my shares, because they are not what they were a even decade ago...

What I see is that GM is doing a balencing act of bare bones and luxury cars, with the only performance cars being targeted to the $50k & up price market ~ even the seemingly reasonable GS is too heavy a car in my books to be consdiered a performance offering considering it uses what is essentially an updated version of the LNF...

Then again, GM has never really been into the sport compact segment, and when they have, normally it was Pontiac making in-strides with cars like Sunbird's, Fiero's, or Grand Am's - and selling so many that Chevy would counter by offering their versions of these cars in the form of Z24, Z26 ect...

1970's was probably the last time Chevrolet really put any effort into making any 'sport compact' cars, there was the Nova SS which was offered in one form or another for pretty much the whole decade, and then there were oddball offereings carrying Vega badges...
1980's brought in a Chevrolet that would have almost vacated the class if not for the Citation X-11...
1990's did bring some hope, there were V6 Cavalier Z24's, and Quad4HO powered Beretta GTZ's & Z26's (the V6 powered GTZ's & Z26's were I believe about two seconds slower in the quarter mile than the Quad4HO cars btw)...
2000's came to yeild the longest running dedicated Chevy 'sport compact' with the Cobalt SS - but even that car was originally slated to end after 2009 (only because of their financial troubles did they carry it over for another year)...

With the passing years, I am finding that I am less and less of a GM guy - and nothing that I'm hearing of from product planning has me even marginally interested.

You can get one for less. There's one up the road from me listed at 26995 with a clean carfax.

oh they're not cheap...but they aren't 40 grand either.

And you can't really compare the GS or Verano to a Cobalt...the cobalt's entire interior was cheap plastic...the Buick's interior is 1000% better. No rattles, super quiet.

You get what you pay for. The GS is quite the car for the money. Some of you drive Cadis on here, and that is probably the worst brand there is to buy brand new considering that it depreciates worse than almost any brand out there.

again...cant really compare the GS and the cobalt. If your looking at features and options between the two...there's no comparison. Add inflation for cost of materials, labor...I just don't get how you can make the comparison.

Cobalt SS sold in 2010. Regal GS went for sale in 2011, so 1 year inflation?

If you want a sport compact gm has nothing. I'm very torn that when my lease is up I'll have to go to a different brand for sport compact.

Smile Dart SRT announced

Just read that a dodge dart set is to be released spring 2016
scroll down to their product plan Maybe once gm notices all other domestic companies with an entry level sport compact they might just for the heck of it release a sonic hatch with the 2.0 turbo engine probably not but one could dream

Chevy definitely needs to get back in the game and build a proper Cobalt SS replacement. There is definitely a market for it today and a lot of competition. Ford has its Focus ST/RS, and here in the next couple of years Dodge will be producing the Dart SRT-4, not to mention all the foreign cars like the Mazadaspeed 3 and the Veloster Turbo. Come on GM step it up! lol.

LNF is dead but I get what you mean.

It won't likely be coming to a cruze anytime soon.
