2008 2.2 to 2.4, to go vvt or not?

Just wondering what you all think, I have a 2008 lt, a 2.4l le5 from a solstice and a 2.2 lap and trans. I scrapped out some cars so the engines are pretty much free. I'm just wondering if I could get the pros and cons of using the 2.4 head, harness and flashing it for vvt, or swapping to the l61 head, no vvt and tuning from there.

I think the two heads are very similar cc size wise, correct me if I'm wrong I would not be gaining compression with the l61 head

Neither of the heads is really cam swappable, I'm guessing the le5 wins cam profile wise.

I'm leaning towards the le5 head but would switch for compression. I will port and polish either head, tune and bolt ons to whichever route I go. I small turbo from a Saab is not out of the question either, and I plan on running the xfe trans to make it better on the highway at high speeds. Also to recoup the lost mpgs.

The plan is to have the motor and trans built to go in then when my clutch goes (I'm over 100 000 miles

if you don't have VVT on your car, you're not gonna be able to tune for it unless you swap a BUNCH of crap around. it would cost more than it'd be worth it. there's no need to swap heads in the first place

Keep L61 head and stick LE5 bottom end on it.

depending on the years, are those bottom ends forged?

It's a 2006 le5 solstice engine so it's all forged inside. As for swapping stuff I have a cobalt lap harness for vvt. The le5, lap and my newer l61 all use the same ECM so I would think with a flash and tune it would be the same.

Do you really think I would be better off keeping my stock head? I am not really worried about the parts or harness for vvt, the harness is complete and sitting on the engine.
