Cam Install Question

In checking several sources for cam install information, I noticed some differences. While the how-to on this site says to set the #1 piston to TDC, my chilton's manual says to set it to 60 degrees before TDC because if you set #1 to TDC you could damage the valves. I would appreciate the input of anyone with experience in doing cam swaps on the eco. Thanks!

TDC on #1 compression stroke, cams need to be neutral and tha should yield all valves closed.
