GMPP adjustable cam gears...anyone???
So, I was going through the GMPP book and saw they had adjustable cam gears for the ecotec...has anyone used these for the 2.0??? U would think tuning the stock cams with less overlap would help out a bit...especially with bolt-ons and more. Thanks

I don't think anyone has tried these yet.I know in the focus world they were a great mod they would gain 12hp on a stock motor and up too 20hp with cams and tunning.

Exactly...well I guess its up to me to get these now *and my car!!! LOL* and get them dyno tuned! The only thing I see problem wise, is the inability to "show them off" and will require you to take of your valve cover every time to tune them in. Am I wrong about this???

It's been kind of a wide thing that they aren't specifically necessary and adjusting with them, unlike other vehicles, is a pain in the ass.
Incase you didn't know, in order to change the timing, you'd have to remove the valve cover. So imagine, sitting on a dyno trying to find out whats gaining you power and what isn't. I used the dyno cause that'd be the best and only real way to know if you've gained some power.

To answer your simplier question, yes, the L61 adjustable gears will fit the LSJ engine. And you can actually take advantage of them since you have tuning available.

Bump? Why?
But since you did...
I was thinking about this other day actually. The LSJ and L61 (2005-06) cams actually have identical grinds. The only difference is their timing. Less overlap on the LSJ for the forced induction. I'll be able to accomplish that with my adjustable gears. But the other option for L61 guys is just to get LSJ cams. I don't know if that's cheaper however, and you don't get any adjustability.

Excellent, Im glad you'll be coming to us for them. We currently use these on our race motor... and have seen some nice gains with them. When you buy them... we give you a rough idea as to how to adjust them to help you get max power... From our experiences we have seen what works and what doesnt.. so that will help you eliminate any guessing on the dyno. Definitely a nice mod that you can for sure take advantage of with tuning. Any other questions let me know.
