Changing the pistons and not the sleeves, not saying it's going to happen, but I HOPE his sleeves don't crack.

I have noticed that A LOT of people who change there pistons and not there sleeves at the same time have cracked there sleeves shortly after.

LOL

All that is doing is lowering PRESSURE BEFORE THE HEAD. That's where boost readings are read from. A ported head will allow more air to get inside the cylinders, which in turn you add more fuel, which in turn makes more power, which in turn increases cylinder pressure. Which in turn a lot of people have split sleeves, including me.

I doubt Bryan will crack a sleeve though. HIGHLY doubt.

You've done it now, you've cursed you car. Once Ecotecs are built, that's when they blow up. Look at Paul's car, didn't blow up until after it was built.

Just kidding. Looks like a good mild build/freshen up.

Yeah no sleeves + aftermarket pistons have been equalling cracked sleeve but I believe Area is already on the smallest pulley? and with the ported head it should be easier on everything with less pressure but we'll see

what i would be more worried about is how out of round those cyl are after 100k mi. and it looks from the pics no ball hone or even a plateau brush was used to remove oil build up.

not saying it hasent been done before or anything but i would of felt like the stock motor would have been tighter and hold better leakdown and comp #'s then this set up.

it will probably be alright, mine lasted a good 30k on 22+ psi before the sleeve went after the first build.

Now Mr. Bates has taken care of all my worries.

You, my good sir, make some great observations that I have unfortunately overlooked. Props to you!
