3rd Gen Headlights?

I was thinking of getting HID kit for my lights and checked them out to see what bulbs they use and they say H1 55 watt but they also say not to use HIDs.Is it ok to run HIDs in the 3rd gen lights.I already have like some small stress cracks on the lenses, not sure if this is from heat or what.Appreciate any help.

Your going to have to remove the squirrel spotter, fill in the hole where it was, and widen the hole where the bulb goes in order to use HID's in them. It sounds like a big job but its not. Maybe 10 minutes per light.

Is that something I can do without taking the whole headlight apart?

I use HIDs in mine and I didn't have to widen the bulb hole at all. I took out that reflector thing since it causes glare spots above the cutoff but other than that everything's been running fine for months.
