For All Who Painted Their Headlights.....

Well I got them apart and I was thinking about what to mask off and what not. So I pulled off the turn signal cover. And I was like hmmm that looks pretty good. So what I might do is buy those Sylvania Silverstar 3157 bulbs that are an irodesent silver color and when lit they are amber. Let me know your input about these homemade clear corners..

Side by Side compare:

Clear corner. That's masking tape. not done yet. keeping the inside chrome and painting the rest black:

Non-Clear Corner. With the Amber cover on.

Personally I like the amber lense, it's the side mounted square lense I hate. If only I could lose that one.........Oh, btw I color-matched my hl to my car, yellow.

i just painted mine and i'm using the silverstar bulbs...it looks great. When they're lit you can't even tell the amber piece is gone (brightness wise). I found this pic on here...

it's not my car but you get the idea.

Hey vic...did you paint your front bowtie or did you use vinyl? If you did paint it, what kind of paint did you use?

If you see the bottom of the picture, it says it's not his car.

That one looks painted. As it's still 3 dimensional. I went the way of vinyl so I could throw and SS badge there instead of the bowtie. I cut an exact OEM size black vinyl out and the put the SS on it.

I took the turn signal amber piece off and replaced the stock bulb with a yellow one

I used paint for mine. I just taped off the chrome piece. I also just used regular like home depot paint, and it came out looking good.

Not hard at all just take you time on it. Also, I use a hairdryer. I don't trust the baking that some people do.

I did exactly what you're talking bout last week on mine CobaltSS422.

I used oven for my removal.
Removed amber turn signal cover (kept inner amber piece in.)
Painted inner turn signal black with rest (kept main headlight chrome.)
Rockin the 3157 Silverstar irodescent bulbs you talkin bout.

I'm very happy with the outcome. Those bulbs look sweet too.
